Exclusive: Rosa Salazar, the actress, director and producer best known for roles in Alita: Battle Angel and Prime Video’s Undone, has signed with Sugar23 for management ahead of a busy 2025.

Lacey Chabert’s love life heats up with a once-chilly paramour in the trailer for Netflix’s holiday offering Hot Frosty.

Jerry Ciccoritti directs the Christmas romantic-comedy feature that hits the streaming service on Nov. 13, just in time for the holiday season. Rounding out the cast are Dustin Milligan, Katy Mixon, Lauren Holly, Joe Lo Truglio, Craig Robinson and Chrishell Stause.

Hot Frosty follows widow Kathy (Chabert), who is going through a rough stretch until she uses a magical scarf to bring attractive snowman Jack (Milligan) to life. The pair begin to fall for each other but have limited time before he starts to melt.

“Clearly, you’ve been doing your push-ups,” Chabert tells the well-toned snowman before his transformation.

Later, Jack (Milligan) tells a neighbor, “I’ve never been on a date before. I need your help with Kathy.”

Hello again. Who’s ready for a Hollywood pairing that could bring the house down? Let me hear you say Sweet Caroline because Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson will star in Craig Brewer‘s Song Sung Blue, an upcoming film inspired by Neil Diamond’s timeless music. Brewer’s musical drama hails from Focus Features, with Brewer as the project’s director and writer.

Based on the 2008 documentary of the same name by director Greg Kohs, Song Sung Blue revolves around the true story of two down-on-their-luck musicians (Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson) who form a joyous Neil Diamond tribute band, proving it’s never too late to find love and follow your dreams. Michael Imperioli, Fisher Stevens, and Jim Belushi round out the star-studded cast alongside Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, and Hudson Hilbert Hensley. John Davis and John Fox are producing the film for Davis Entertainment alongside Craig Brewer.

Hugh Jackman may be the “Greatest Showman,” but now he has a show-woman counterpart: Kate Hudson.

The Tony winner and Broadway staple star will co-lead upcoming movie musical “Song Sung Blue” with Hudson, who recently unveiled her debut album “Glorious.”

The film is based on a true story and follows two down-on-their-luck musicians, played by Jackman and Hudson, who form a joyous Neil Diamond tribute band and “prove it’s never too late to find love and follow your dreams,” per the official logline.

“Hustle and Flow” and “Coming 2 America” director Craig Brewer will write and direct the Focus Features film.

And Minghella largely succeeds in his admittedly modest ambitions. It’s too bad he’s had his lunch eaten by Coralie Fargeat’s “The Substance,” a film with an identical premise and analogous execution but a much higher profile.

Most audiences would recognize Max Minghella from his stellar turn in Hulu’s “Handmaid’s Tale” or “The Mindy Project” or any number of acting gigs in film and TV. But he’s also a writer/producer/director, and with “Shell,” he not only makes his sophomore directorial feature effort, he also reunites with “Tale” topliner Elisabeth Moss.

Moss stars as Samantha, an actor who was on a hit TV show when she was younger, but now, a little bit older, she loses out on roles she is perfect for to younger, fitter actors despite her talent. Yes, we’re still in the summer, but fall film festival season is right around the corner. And today, we finally have the full lineup of films coming to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

According to TIFF, the event has announced 20 new films that are being added to the final lineup of the festival. Perhaps the biggest new World Premiere film is “Shell” by actor-turned-filmmaker Max Minghella.

Francis Ford Coppola’s divisive sci-fi epic “Megalopolis” will have its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

TIFF has added that movie and several others, including Luca Guadadgnino’s “Queer” starring Daniel Craig and Pedro Almodóvar’s “The Room Next Door” led by Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton, to its 2024 lineup. In total, 276 films will screen at this year’s festival, which is running from Sept. 5-15.

In addition to official selection titles, TIFF has programmed special screenings of Damien Chazelle’s 2014 film “Whiplash,” as well as Mina Shum’s 1994 comedy “Double Happiness.”

As previously announced, director David Gordon Green’s “Nutcrackers,” starring Ben Stiller, will open the festival while Rebel Wilson’s directorial debut “The Deb” will close the 49th edition. The Toronto Film Festival has made its final lineup announcement for its 2024 edition, to include a North American premiere of Francis Ford Coppola’s dystopian epic Megalopolis and a world bow for Driven director Nick Hamm’s medieval action drama William Tell.

Both movies, including the Cannes-bowing Megalopolis, will get a Gala premiere at Roy Thomson Hall. William Tell, set in 1307 and adapting Friedrich Schiller’s play, stars Danish actor Claes Bang as huntsman Tell, Ben Kingsley as King Albrecht, Rafe Spall as Stauffacher and Jonathan Pryce as Attinghausen.

Toronto, which will feature in all 278 films for its 49th edition, has also booked Special Presentations slots for another 12 titles. Added to the Gala films for this year’s 49th edition of the festival are Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis” and the world premiere of “William Tell,” starring Claes Bang, Connor Swindells, Jonathan Pryce, Ben Kingsley, and Jonah Hauer-King. “William Tell” is directed by the BAFTA-winning producer and director Nick Hamm; the film takes place in medieval Europe amid the Austrian Empire’s invasion of Switzerland.

The world premieres slate now also includes Daniel Minahan’s highly-anticipated queer love triangle “On Swift Horses” with Jacob Elordi, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Diego Calva, as well as Max Minghella’s “Shell.” The all-star cast for “Shell” includes Elisabeth Moss, Kate Hudson, and Kaia Gerber.

The films were part of a group of 19 titles that brought the total number of movies at this year’s festival to 276.

The wildly ambitious and excessive “Megalopolis,” starring Adam Driver and Nathalie Emmanuel, was one of the most talked-about and most divisive titles at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. “The Room Next Door” is Almodovar’s first English-language feature, starring Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore; it will premiere just prior to TIFF at the Venice Film Festival. “Queer” is Guadagnino’s adaptation of a 1985 William S. Burroughs novel, and another Venice premiere.

The Netflix anime series “Terminator Zero” brings the franchise back to its horror roots on August 29, and the streaming service has debuted the official teaser trailer this morning.

The vibe here is far more in line with the original Terminator movie than the subsequent sequels, with “Terminator Zero” promising a return to those ruthless serial killer roots.

The Blink-182 drummer, Travis Barker has recently welcomed a baby boy, Rocky, with his wife Kourtney Kardashian Barker, and is a proud dad to all his children. Barker shares a daughter, Alabama Luella Barker, and a son Landon Barker with ex Shanna Moakler.

In an interview with People, the 48-year-old opened up about parenthood and admitted that he got a “crash course” with his stepdaughter, Atiana De La Hoya, when she was an infant. He added, “The most wonderful thing you could do at any time in your life is have a baby or bring a human being into this world.”

Barker expressed that he “learned so much” with the births of Alabama and Landon as both were born really close to each other. Reflecting on the birth of Rocky, he said “it’s just as good as I remembered it.

Anime is not just about sunshine and rainbows, it is dark, it is gory and it can question existence as a whole. Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Paprika, and much other older anime are only proof that this darkness is not new. So mangas and other works that are now part of the dark shonen trio and more only had their paths paved because of the existence of these more foundational animes.

UK-based Range Studios International has launched a development fund to create UK and European horror films for a global audience.

The sister of US-based management firm Range Media Partners and Range Select plans to commission five to 10 English-language feature scripts in the first year based on concept and treatment submissions.
