Finding out that Shudder is going to remove the Etheria Film Night Shorts from the site tomorrow,I got set for a marathon viewing of the final 4 I've yet to watch. Having found Offbeat (2019-also reviewed) to be a unexpected gem,I buckled in for the next viewing.
Note:This review contains some spoilers.
View on the film:
In only her second directing credit (after the 2015 short Aftermath) and first script credit, writer/director Alexandria Perez casts a sharp eye for a stylish shine which places the horror of The Final Girl, behind the wheel of the Neo-Noir neon lights.
Placing the majority of the film inside a car or on the roadside, Perez & cinematographer Rob E. Bennett lock the un-named driver in a over saturated time loop of splattered blood across the windscreen being cast along vast drone shots covering the deserted wasteland, where the only company Driver finds is Final Girls (who Perze names after Final Girls in Slasher flicks) who he will help each of them to stage a return.
