It's that time again, and NBC has revealed it's 2011-2012 schedule. A couple of things have been kicked to the curb, and a host of new shows are coming to fill things in. I have a preview of the new fall shows, and the full schedule for you. There are a few surprises on the cut and not cut side of things, and the new shows have a bit of something for everyone. As usual, some of the ones that look the best to me are reserved for mid-season. And, NBC has apparently given up on Saturday altogether.

It's a whole lot of info, so let's just jump in.

NBC has introduced its 2011-12 primetime schedule, showcasing six new dramas and six new comedies from a roster of renowned hit-makers that includes Steven Spielberg, Lorne Michaels, Brian Grazer, Tom Werner, John Grisham and Peter Berg, among many others.

NBC announced their Prime Time slate for 2011-2012 today. Chuck has been moved to Friday night for it's final season. I am really looking forward to seeing how The Playboy Club turns out. NBC has given a presentation order to an untitled comedy written by and starring Upright Citizens Brigade alums Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair. The single-camera project, from Scot Armstrong and Ravi Nandan's American Work and Ums, is a comedy triangle  centered on a woman (Parham) and her new live-in boyfriend. They find themselves  taking in her distraught (and pushy) best girlfriend (St. Clair) who ends up on their doorstep after a divorce. Parham, St. Clair, Armstrong and Nandan are all exec producing. The pilot order stems from American Work's first-look deal with NBC. The company previously produced the network's 2009 comedy pilot Off Duty.

Scot Armstrong and Ravi Nandan stumbled into TV producing 2 years ago. The two were working with Nandan's old friend, writer Jason Mantzoukas, on feature projects when an idea Mantzoukas had felt better suited for TV. The three pitched the idea, it sold to NBC and eventually became the 2009 comedy pilot Off Duty starring Bradley Whitford. The pilot didn't go to series, but NBC liked Armstrong and Nandan's brand of comedy and signed their 4-year-old company American Work in a first-look deal. In their first TV development season last year, Armstrong and Nandan sold 4 comedy projects. This season, they have set up 10: 8 at NBC and one each at Fox and FX. Jason Mantzoukas, who has been juggling acting and writing, has sold 2 projects: a feature action comedy pitch I've Got Your Girlfriend to 20th Century Fox and a workplace comedy to FX. I've Got Your Girlfriend, which is being produced by the Chernin Co., Scot Armstrong and Ravi Nandan, was one of first pitches bought by Jeremy Kramer, Fox's new Evp of production. It stems from Mantzoukas and Nandan's desire to do an action comedy in the tradition of Beverly Hills Cop and Die Hard and from their obsession with the 2008 action thriller Taken starring Liam Neeson as a former spy searching for his abducted daughter. "What if we did a comedy version of that?," Mantzoukas said about the origin of the idea. "Liam is a trained assassin. What if you or me got that call? What would we do? Jason Mantzoukas, who wrote the NBC pilot "Off Duty" last season, has set up a new comedy project, this time at Fox.

He also has been hired to rewrite the action-comedy feature "Ride Along," starring Ice Cube.

The Fox project, from 20th TV and Chernin Entertainment, takes place in a hospital and centers on a female doctor who is unraveling at the seams.

Jason Mantzoukas, who wrote the NBC pilot "Off Duty" last season, has set up a new comedy project, this time at Fox.

He also has been hired to rewrite the action-comedy feature "Ride Along," starring Ice Cube.

The Fox project, from 20th TV and Chernin Entertainment, takes place in a hospital and centers on a female doctor who is unraveling at the seams.

"Ride Along," from New Line and Cube Vision, will star Cube as a rogue cop who tries to break off his sister's engagement to an upper-crust white psychiatrist by inviting his future brother-in-law on a ride-along.

The project, penned by Greg Coolidge, has gone through a couple of rewrites. Cube and his producing partner Matt Alvarez are producing, with Chris Bender and Jc Spink executive producing.

Last year, Mantzoukas' buddy-cop comedy pilot "Off Duty," starring Bradley Whitford and Romany Malco, was in serious contention for a series pickup at NBC.

Bradley Whitford has been tapped to star in "Jack and Dan," Matt Nix's new 13-episode series for Fox.

The straight-to-series hourlong project is produced by Fox TV Studios under the company's international co-production model.

It centers on Jack, an ambitious, by-the-book cop who is partnered with Dan (Whitford), a drunken, lecherous, wild-card cop who hangs onto his job only because of a heroic act years before.

Filming on the show, an action comedy in the tone of Nix's USA Network hit "Burn Notice," is slated to begin early next year.

This is the second buddy-cop comedy project for Emmy winner Whitford, who also starred in the NBC half-hour pilot "Off Duty" this past development season. The actor, next seen in "The Cabin in the Woods," is repped by Wme and manager Adena Chawke.

Although most pilots -- especially on the comedy side -- are yet to be completed, several projects are enjoying early buzz based on screenings, testings, dailies or the strength of their script and cast.

ABC's sci-fi drama "Flash Forward" starring Joseph Fiennes is a lock for a series order.

Also hot on the drama side at ABC are "Happy Town," "Eastwick" and "Inside the Box," with "Limelight," "V" and the Dave Hemingson project also looking good. Last year's pilot "Captain Cook's Extraordinary Atlas," which didn't make the cut in August, is back in contention, now for next season.

On the comedy side, "An American Family," the untitled Ricky Blitt project starring Alyssa Milano, and "Cedric" are being buzzed about, along with the Courteney Cox starrer "Cougar Town."

At Fox, the comic book-based "Human Target," directed by Simon West and starring Jackie Earle Haley, is considered a shoo-in, joining the already ordered "Glee.

Ken Jeong has finally ascended to one of the key levels of celebritydom: getting recognized on the street. Sort of. "I'm getting, like, 'I've seen you in some stuff; I don't know who you are, but you're really funny,' " the actor says with a laugh. It's likely these would-be fans caught one of Jeong's scene-stealing performances in a trio of recent hits. He portrayed surly ob-gyn Dr. Kuni in 2007's Knocked Up and followed up with roles as the grim assassin in Pineapple Express and the haughty king in Role Models. Bonnie Sommerville has been tapped to co-star in NBC's comedy pilot "Off Duty," and Jesse Tyler Ferguson has joined ABC's comedy pilot "An American Family."

"Off Duty," from Universal Media Studios and Upright Citizens Brigade's Jason Mantzoukas, centers on a once-legendary police detective (Bradley Whitford) on his way down who complicates the life of his new partner (Romany Malco) -- a straight shooter on his way up -- both on duty and off.

Sommerville will play Malco's wife. Also cast in the pilot is Capethia Jenkins as the crusty police district chief.

Sommerville, who recently starred on ABC's "Cashmere Mafia," will next be seen in the feature "The Ugly Truth." She is repped by Icm and McKeon-Myones Management.

Emmy winner Bradley Whitford is returning to NBC as star-producer of the single-camera comedy pilot "Off Duty."

Romany Malco has been tapped as the second lead in the Ums-produced buddy comedy, which has been greenlighted for production following a cast-contingent pilot order in July.

Written by Upright Citizens Brigade comedian Jason Mantzoukas, "Off Duty" centers on a once-legendary police detective (Whitford) on his way down who complicates the life of his new partner (Malco) -- a straight shooter on his way up -- both on duty and off.

American Work's Scot Armstrong and Ravi Nandan will executive produce the project, with Mantzoukas co-executive producing and Whitford producing.

"Off Duty" marks a change of pace for Whitford, who starred for seven seasons on NBC's drama "The West Wing," for which he won an Emmy, and "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip." He is repped by Endeavor, Greenlight Management and attorney Amy Nickin.
