Christopher Lloyd is officially back in the DeLorean for a new Back to the Future 30th anniversary short film, Doc Brown Saves the World. But this is far from the first time he's portrayed the Doc outside of the classic '80s trilogy.
1. Back to the Future: The Ride (1991)
Two years after the release of Back to the Future III, Universal Studios Florida opened Back to the Future: The Ride and enlisted Lloyd to give the pre-flight briefing as Doc.
It became a mini-film in itself as Thomas F Wilson turned up as Biff to swipe the DeLorean and kick things into gear. The ride closed in 2007, although if you're willing to rack up the air miles it's still going strong at Universal Studios Japan.
2. Back to the Future: The Animated Series (1991-1992)

America’s longest-running cartoon, “The Simpsons,” has now come to life in the form of “Springfield,” the newest environment at Universal Studios Hollywood. The town will have its residency next to the park’s popular and award-winning “The Simpsons Ride.” The new addition of “Springfield” was celebrated by a big block party with special guests like the executive producer of “The Simpsons Al Jean, Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart), Yeardley Smith (the voice of Lisa) and Joe Mantegna (the voice of Fat Tony). Also among the partiers were Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Krusty the Clown and Sideshow Bob. The attraction brings visitors into the world they see on their TV screens [ Read More ]

Describing the pop culture phenom world of “The Simpsons,” the one word that comes to mind is humor. Even in the ride, a replica of the Universal Orlando attraction, the overwhelming sense of mirth is perfectly laced against the high-octane “grabs you in the kishkas” madness of “The Simpsons Ride.”And there’s donuts and beer. Caveat: Don’t eat a Krusty Burger or drink a Flamin’ Moe right before you do the immersive ride!Opening at the theme park on Wednesday, May 13, the primary color-rich live-action replica of Homer and Marge’s hometown is complete with famous “spots’ seen on the show, including […]...

I've never been to any of the theme parks in Florida, but now I'm not going to go until at least this is finished.
The proposed park will be built in Universal Orlando near the Simpson's Ride. Here is the official press release with all of the details:

As first reported by the Orlando Sentinel, Universal Studios Florida will close their ride based on Steven Spielberg's classic horror movie "Jaws" by January 2012. The "Jaws" ride was one of the original attractions when Universal Studios first opened in Orlando in 1990; when it shuts down next month, it leaves "E.T. Adventure," "Universal's Horror Make-Up Show" and "Lucy: A Tribute" as the last remaining vestiges of the original park's lineup.
"'Jaws' has been an amazing attraction and an important part of our history," Universal spokesman Tom Schroder told The Sentinel. "We know that 'Jaws' holds a special place in the hearts of our guests. But we always have to look to the future and dedicate ourselves to providing new, innovative entertainment experiences for our guests."

For years, Harry Potter fans dreamed of being able to enter his world. Then, in June 2010 [1], that dream became a reality when Universal Studios Orlando [2] opened The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, a full themed land inside the park that features Hogwarts Castle, Hogsmeade, a few major rides and more. The park has been a massive success for Universal, helping to increase their attendance by millions. Like anything that's successful, Hollywood is now going to steal it. In this case, though, it's an awesome theft. Universal will reportedly announce a second Wizarding World of Harry Potter at their flagship theme park, Universal Studios Hollywood, with doors opening as early as 2015. Read more about the deal, and how exactly this Potter-themed theme park will fit into Hollywood, after the jump. The Wall Street Journal [3] first reported this news and The Los Angeles Times [4]reported the tentative opening date. Universal, who owns the Potter theme park rights,...

"The Simpsons" will live on, after all.
On the verge of cancellation after producer 20th Century Fox TV demanded that the voice cast of the seminal animated series take a 45% pay cut, the producers and talent came to a last minute agreement on Friday that will extend the show for two more seasons. It was thought that the show would last only one more season after this, its 23rd, even if an agreement was reached, but the groundbreaking series will reach a record-setting 25 years on television.
The cast had agreed to lower their salaries, but asked in exchange for a cut of the backend profits, including DVD, syndication and merchandise sales. Star Harry Shearer released a statement earlier on Friday, saying that he was willing to take up to an up to 70% cut in pay in exchange for the back end. Fox balked at the offer, though terms of the...
