Two pilots were made but they were not picked up and never aired. The first pilot was titled "Rascals" and the second was titled, "Souper Nuts".
Though the pilots were not picked up, ABC chief executive Fred Silverman was so impressed with Gary Coleman that he wanted to work him in to what would become the final season of What's Happening!! (1976), as what would eventually become the character of "Little Earl." Silverman moved to NBC, and instead decided to build a series around him instead. That series became Diff'rent Strokes (1978).
