Power Book IV: Force is coming back for a third season!

The Starz television show was previously announced to be renewed, but in June 2024, it was revealed that it will be the series’ final season.

Power Book IV: Force follows Tommy Egan, who cuts ties in New York and heads to Chicago in search of family. One step leads to another and Tommy quickly finds himself in Chicago’s ruthless drug game between two of the city’s biggest crews, and a revolving door of rivalries trying to stake their claim. Tommy is more determined than ever to be the sole distributor in Chicago and must decide what he is willing to sacrifice to finally ascend the throne of a kingpin.

Freaky and Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon was supposed to be heading into production on Scream 7 – but that project turned out to be so troubled, he had to activate his ejector seat and get out of there. While he has since been replaced on Scream 7 by Kevin Williamson, he has been busy lining up other genre projects, signing on to direct the werewolf thriller Big Bad and the “fast-paced thriller” Drop. Universal Pictures revealed the new poster for the Drop movie at New York Comic Con today. The new thriller from Blumhouse, directed by Christopher Landon, will open in theaters on April 11, 2025.

Drop is rated PG-13 by the MPA for strong violent content, suicide, some strong language, and sexual references.

As Prime Video's live-action Spider-Man Noir (now titled Spider-Noir) series continues to cast its supporting players, we have a late addition in the form of Karen Rodriguez.

Variety is reporting that the Swarm actress - who has also appeared in the likes of Acapulco, Shining Girls, Power Book IV: Force and The Big Leap - has joined the production in a series regular role, but details on her character are being kept under wraps.

Rodriguez joins Nicolas Cage as the titular hero (believed to be a new take on Ben Reilly), along with Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, and Jack Huston.

An official synopsis was released, but according to a more detailed breakdown (via Daniel Richtman), Ben Reilly (Cage) will be up against Silvio Manfredi, aka Silvermane, and Yuri Watanabe, aka Wraith.

“Spider-Noir” has cast Karen Rodriguez in a series regular role, Variety has learned exclusively.

The series, which is the first live-action project to feature the character Spider-Man Noir, was picked up to series in May. Rodriguez will appear alongside series lead Nicolas Cage as well as series regulars actor Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, and Jack Huston.

Per the official logline, the show “tells the story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.”

Rodriguez previously appeared in the Amazon series “Swarm.” She is also known for her roles in shows like “Acapulco” and “Shining Girls” at Apple TV+, “Power Book IV: Force” at Starz, and “The Big Leap” at Fox. She will next be seen in the Starz drama series “The Hunting Wives.

Power Book IV: Force is returning for one last season!

The popular extension of the Power franchise on Starz was renewed for a third season and started filming back in February.

However, as production went on, it was announced in June that the upcoming episodes would be the last ones for the series, which is the third spinoff.

Exclusive: 20th has landed the rights to a feature adaptation of the New York Times bestselling novel California Bear from Duane Swierczynski. Gary Lennon will write the feature alongiside Swierczynski with Ryan Coogler’s Proximity Media producing, sources tell Deadline.

Swierczynski’s latest novel is a thriller that follows four unlikely vigilantes whose decision to take justice into their own hands pits them against the villain behind California’s coldest murder case.

California Bear is 20th’s first project with Proximity. Rashonda Joplin, 20th’s Director of Production, and Catherine Hughes, Creative Executive, will be shepherding the project. 20th’s Head of Literary Affairs, Clare Reeth was instrumental in bringing the book into the studio. With “Power Book II: Ghost” having just entered its fourth and final season, the only current “Power” series continuing at Starz is “Book III: Raising Kanan,” which was renewed for a fifth season in March. There is some good news, however — showrunner and executive producer Gary Lennon was given enough notice to craft a proper ending, so while fans may not want the show to end, at least they can take solace in knowing it won’t conclude on a cliffhanger.

As Deadline reported in March, Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch revealed plans to contain content costs by developing more new shows versus sustaining series longer as they become more expensive. Universal Pictures has just announced (via Deadline) release dates – in some cases, new release dates for movies that are shifting around on their schedule – for five upcoming horror films… and every one of them happens to be a Blumhouse production. The movies in question are The Woman in the Yard, Drop, The Black Phone 2, M3GAN 2.0, and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 – and we’re about to go through them one-by-one.

First up is the thriller The Woman in the Yard, which was once set to reach theatres on January 10, 2025, but was bumped out of that date so the Blumhouse reboot of Wolf Man could move from this October to January 17th. During a recent Emmys FYC conversation in Atlanta with Bmf showrunner Heather Zuhlke, stars Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr., Da’Vinchi, Michole Briana White and Russell Hornsby — who respectively play Big Meech, Terry, and Flenory matriarch and patriarch Lucille and Charles — and executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who had been less active with the network in recent years after several fallouts, was full of pride and commentary about the Starz drama’s current success and future plans.

There’s no denying that Jackson putting his hip hop fame and street cred behind Power, the series essentially about a drug kingpin named Ghost (Omari Hardwick) who wanted to get out the game and become a respectable businessman, changed the premium network’s fortune. Power reportedly increased Starz’s subscribers base by as much as 40 percent.

From that came three successful spinoffs — Power Book II: Ghost; Power Book III: Raising Kanan and Power Book IV: Force.

Starz announced today that its hit drama series, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, has been renewed for a fifth season. The third installment in the Power franchise, Raising Kanan, recently concluded its explosive third season and is currently filming season four in New York.

Starz has renewed Power Book III: Raising Kanan for a fifth season, with the pickup for the spinoff starring Mekai Curtis coming as the fourth cycle of the show is in production in New York. Creator Sascha Penn will return as showrunner and exec producer.

The renewal means Raising Kanan will officially outlive Power Book II: Ghost, as the latter series will conclude with its upcoming fourth season. Starz, meanwhile, is developing a Power prequel series, Origins, which would follow Ghost and Tommy. Power Book IV: Force is currently filming its third season in Chicago.

Netflix's Griselda is one of the best hits of 2024 so far, and there's a good reason that the show is breaking ground. Fans and critics alike have sung praises for the six-episode limited series.

The biographical crime drama tells the story of The Cocaine Godmother Griselda Blanco, who ruled the Miami underworld in the '70s and '80s and helped establish cocaine trade links between Colombia and the United States.

Sofia Vergara's role as the titular character is highly praised, and many want more to do with this crime drama. While we may not get more Griselda, there are several shows to watch that are similar to the series.

10. Weeds

Weeds is a funnier, lower-stakes version of Griselda, in a way. Hard times drive Nancy Botwin (Mary-Lousie Parker) into the marijuana trade. A widowed mother of two boys, this mom is willing to do anything for her family.

When Power touched down on Starz 10 years ago, it was clear the premium cabler had found a big hit.

After a decade on the air, the main show is over, three spinoffs are on the air, and a fourth is on the way.

Power: Origins scored a formal pickup this week, and the concept is sure to get fans talking.

The series delves into the earlier years of Ghost and Tommy, played by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora in the original series.

Hardwick’s journey as Ghost concluded in 2020 with the end of the original series, while Sikora continues to play Tommy in the sequel series Power Book IV: Force.

It’s unclear at this stage whether Hardwick and Sikora are involved in the prequel in any capacity, but we would certainly enjoy their narration if the story allows for it.

Ghost and Tommy are getting their own “Power” origins story. As Starz continues to span the “Power” universe into multiple series, the network is ready to announce the official fourth spinoff. The network confirmed Wednesday that it is developing the “Power” prequel series “Origins,” which will follow the beginning story of characters Ghost and Tommy, played in the original “Power” by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora.

Sascha Penn (“Power Book III: Raising Kanan”) will serve as the executive producer for “Origins,” which comes from Lionsgate TV. (It’s unclear whether it will actually be called “Power Book V: Origins.”)

The first “Power,” which debuted in 2014, starred Hardwick as James St. Patrick, a nightlife entrepreneur who is also a massively successful cocaine distributor known on the streets as “Ghost.” He rules that empore alongside his childhood friend Tommy, played by Sikora.

With Starz set to become a pure play standalone public company by year end, CEO Jeff Hirsch is out talking up its strong points and how it competes in a crowded streaming landscape — price increases, bundling, and most importantly, he said, containing content costs with a slate of new shows in development as later season series get costly.

“When seasons go from one to two to three to four [seasons], three to four is where the cost really pops because most of the actors get bigger raises, and you have to really manage that. So, you have to have in your portfolio of development shows that can actually replace shows as they get into later seasons,” he said at a Deutsche Bank media conference today, providing one of the most blunt assessments of a practice introduced by Netflix and embraced by other streamers where shows produced under the Cost Plus model...

“Power Book IV: Force” showrunner Gary Lennon is extending his creative partnership with Lionsgate Television under a new deal.

The pact will see Lennon continue to work on development opportunities with Lionsgate and Starz to expand the “Power” universe. The move comes as “Power Book IV: Force” begins production on Season 3, which will see Lennon return as showrunner and executive producer.

“Gary has been a major creative force in the ‘Power’ universe,” Lionsgate TV chief Kevin Beggs said in a statement. “We look forward to extending our partnership as we collaborate with Starz to create new and unexpected franchise extensions for ‘Power’ fans.”

“Lionsgate Television has been the ideal production partner,” Lennon added. “Their creative team is unmatched, and they have been incredibly supportive as we’ve built and expanded the ‘Power’ universe. They are a great home for talent looking to broaden their creative horizons.”

Gary Lennon has extended his deal with Lionsgate Television.

Lennon is currently the showrunner on the hit Starz/Lionsgate TV spinoff series “Power Book IV: Force,” which was renewed for a third season back in December. Under his deal, he will work with Lionsgate Television and Starz to develop expansions of the “Power” franchise.

“Gary has been a major creative force in the ‘Power’ universe,” said Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate Television Group chair and chief creative officer. “We look forward to extending our partnership as we collaborate with Starz to create new and unexpected franchise extensions for ‘Power’ fans.”

Lennon previously worked on “Power” during the show’s six-season run at Starz. He has also worked on the Starz/Lionsgate shows “Hightown” and “P-Valley,” as well as the Netflix series “Orange Is the New Black,” which was produced by Lionsgate Television.

“Lionsgate Television has been the ideal production partner,” said Lennon.

Get ready for more Power Book IV: Force. Season three of the Starz crime drama series has begun filming in Chicago. The cable network renewed the series in December 2023, only weeks after the 10-episode second season had finished airing in November.

Starring Joseph Sikora, Isaac Keys, Lili Simmons, Shane Harper, Kris D. Lofton, Carmela Zumbado, Manuel Eduardo Ramirez, Miriam A. Hyman, Adrienne Walker, Anthony Fleming III, Lucien Cambric, and Tommy Flanagan, the series follows Tommy Egan (Sikora) after he leaves NYC and lands in Chicago.
