Two words: YOLANDA ADAMS! She's the star of this show and her acting skills are excellent. She is the real-life Queen of Gospel Music so to see her playing Denita Jordan while bringing the realities of the church and gospel music industry to the forefront is exciting to watch.
The music is also great. I personally love the duet between Yolanda Adams and Lamyia Good when they're in the studio singing. I feel like that song should be finished and released as a single. It'll definitely go viral. Moreover, I think it does an awesome job of capturing the truly competitive nature of the industry while also reminding persons of the extreme talent that is Yolanda Adams.
Admittedly, when she sings, I just can't see Danita. I see Yolanda. That's the Queen of Gospel Music for you!

This is such a good show. The entire cast is phenomenal and it reminds me so much of a gospel version of Empire. I love how the show goes deeper into looking inside the works of the gospel music industry. Yolanda Adams and Serayah are good as rivals but cannot wait for them to become allies as the show progresses. The music is another major part of the show because the songs send a deeper message for us all to hear. I cannot wait to see this show progress further and further than ever. Time for some NAACP and other awards and nominations. S/O to the writers and crew members for this show right here. God bless you.
The characters in EMPIRE all had motives and individual drives. Some similar ingredients were present in Kingdom Business. But due to a mishandled murder mystery (when it wasn't mentioned by one of the characters, the viewer didn't even remember it. When the reveal comes at the end, it doesn't affect the story or none of the characters for that matter), a passive aggressive, self-sabotaging character (the young singer who's supposed to dethrone the reigning queen of gospel, at some point she infiltrates some underground sex scene for powerful men that leads to nowhere), love triangles that don't make sense, half-cooked character developments, half-cooked side storylines, etc.
It is saved by the adult cast members and the fact that it is 8 episodes .
