Featured review
This is the second-to-shortest special feature on the Resurrected Edition DVD of Resident Evil: Apocalypse, only longer than the Zombie Dog POV Test. From the title(particularly the word "evolution"), I had thought that it was a documentary, where they talk about the developments of the series and analyze the impact, the meaning and the relation to the beloved games. Not so. This is a recap that goes into all three(using video footage from all of them, and voice-overs by the incredibly hot Milla Jovovich from both of the sequels), with a running time of five minutes(well, the last thirty seconds are end credits). The conclusion(or the latter half of it, really) is a sort of teaser for Extinction, and a decent enough one at that. In fact, the whole feels like an overly long TV-spot, and an excessively chatty one, too. Everything we see we've already seen in the two first ones(maybe the point was the exclusive clips from the new one?), and it was better either in the final cut or the respective trailers. It doesn't really get your adrenaline pumping(as the clips of action are so brief), or any other strong response(in spite of the cool music), unless you're already hyped up going into this. The editing is fine. I guess the idea was to get people hooked about watching the third, but again, the ads did a much better job. There is a bit of disturbing content in this. I recommend this to those looking for this sort of thing. 5/10
