When I saw a poster for this show on HBO Max, I thought, what the heck is this? But since I have to review every cartoon of 2020, I have to review this one as well. I kinda forgot about it until recently, and have been procrastinating from watching it because I thought it looked lame.
The show is a British preschool show that somehow ended up on HBO Max, it would've been more fit for Netflix or YouTube. In fact, this show appears to be made by the same people behind Little Baby Bum, a YouTube channel that specializes in videos for kids with very rudimentary animation. In fact, when I saw the show, I thought it looked like a generic kids video.
The show switches from 2D to 3D when the three main characters go into the magic playground, but the 2D looks far better art-wise, although the 2D animation is kinda janky. The characters are also generic, they're the typical excitable kids with active imaginations. The show does nothing to differentiate them or give them more personality.
If you want another show to watch instead, I recommend Chloe's Closet, another British cartoon about kids going into an alternate dimension. Chloe's Closet is far more charming and has way better visuals and characters. I also recommend Hilda. It's another British cartoon, and even though it isn't for preschoolers, the whole family can enjoy it.
