The show portrays the issues with San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and the decision to change the company name from UberCab to Uber as a way to avoid regulation as events that occurred between two rounds of funding by Benchmark Capital, whereas in real life these events occurred before Uber approached Benchmark for funding for the first time.
The show presents Travis Kalanick as having founded, owned, and controlled Scour as his previous failed business endeavor, however he was neither an original co-founder nor the chief executive for that company. What is omitted is Kalanick having co-founded Red Swoosh which was a successful launch and sold for $19 million about a year before Kalanick became involved in Uber.
Season One is based on the book by the same name by Mike Isaac published in 2019.
At 6'9, the real Bill Gurley is significantly taller than Kyle Chandler who portrays him in Super Pumped. Bill's height has been mentioned in industry publications.
