Director Erik Bloomquist (Ten Minutes to Midnight, Long Lost) is back with slasher throwback She Came from the Woods, which is headed home this weekend.
After being released in theaters earlier this year, She Came from the Woods is now slashing its way onto Tubi on Saturday, June 10. Check out a gallery of exclusive character posters below, along with the previously released trailer for the 1980s-style summer camp slasher.
In She Came from the Woods, “A group of counselors unleashes a decades-old evil, long buried secrets, and bloody mayhem on the last night of summer camp in 1987.”
Matt Donato wrote in his review for Bloody Disgusting, “Even as a warmup act to the heavy hitters worshiped by slasher fans since the dawn of internet forums, She Came from the Woods stands its ground as an example of how no subgenre is dead with the proper approach.”

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Thursday released its official entries for 2021 Oscars in the categories of Documentary Feature, Animated Feature and International Films. The takeaway: As expected, the eligible Documentary Feature lineup shatters the record for the most ever.
A total of 238 features are eligible for consideration in the Doc Feature category, breaking the previous record of 170 set in 2017. Last year, by contrast, 159 feature documentaries qualified. The Academy relaxed eligibility rules in light of Covid-19, so that any film that could make a claim of an intended theatrical release was deemed eligible. Earning awards from film festivals was an alternative way to qualify.
For the International Feature race, Lesotho, Sudan and Suriname are first-time entrants among the 93 eligible titles, the same total as last year. Earlier this year, the Academy’s Board of Governors boosted the number of films eligible for the shortlist from 10 to 15. Under the new rules,...

Not to take anything away from filmmaker Dana Nachman, but her new documentary certainly benefits from the timing of its release. The film focuses on the 107-year-old Operation Santa program run by the U.S. Postal Service, which incorporates volunteers from around the country to answer children’s letters to Santa Claus and, in many cases, to deliver the gifts they’ve requested. Dear Santa, being showcased at the Doc NYC festival before its theatrical release next month, opens with the cheerful strains of “We Need a Little Christmas,” and boy, do we ever.

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: What better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? This week, […]

The film invites audiences along for the magic of this massive endeavor. This timeless doc captures the warmth and spirit of Christmastime through the lens of this great American tradition, provoking audiences throughout the world to ask themselves how they can make the world a better place, one gesture at a time.
