The Japanese title is 'mellow', with a small letter "m". The director Rikiya picked up this word from the name of the local clothing store, and decided to use this as the name of the flower shop in the film.
The director Rikiya Imaizumi is making three films just in 2020: Mellow (2020), His (2020), and "Machino uede". In 2019, he made two films: What Is Love? (2018) and Little Nights, Little Love (2019). One film is waiting to be released in 2021: "Anokoro".
