The series is an expansion of second movie in the series "Juzni vetar 2: Ubrzanje". First four episodes of the series are actually extended cut of the movie, while the following episodes are a continuation of the story.
The series was filmed in Serbia, Croatia and Russia.
Michael Madsen was cast, but due to personal drama with his son chose to quit. Eric Roberts was offered the role instead and accepted.
