I had the good fortune of being both in a good mood and in good company tonight, so I decided to see this with my roommate.
The result was an hour and a half of constant laughter and spasms of the abdomen. While this movie had the script that a ten year old mental patient could write better, the fact that it was an absolutely horrible rip off of AvP didn't help either. Don't get me wrong, rip-off's are fine as far as I'm concerned, but when you butcher the original script (which was no polished pearl either, truth be told) in such a brutal and merciless way, that's just wrong.
I think the acting is actually sometimes even done better here in Croatia, just as the camera-work (Croatia is renowned for awful quality of both camera and script, not to mention acting, mind you), and the voice-overs (yes, voice-overs!) are done just as bad.
The whole movie gives you the impression of being made from top to bottom in a 100 square foot radius, the scenes are done in one and the same place over and over again, only the angle changes a bit, a prop or two is added, and occasionally smoke... and the costumes... my god, the costumes.
I won't go into further detail here, as this was an absolute disaster of a film, and while it would get a 9 out of 10 on my fun-o-meter, the objective grade here is 2, and I'm being generous.
If you're looking for an action flick, or anything to do with Sci-Fi, don't see this. If you enjoy a good trash movie like I do, and had fun watching Leben Tod - Night of the Dead 2006 (a must-see for trash lovers), this deserves to be on your to-watch list.
Cheers!

Oh dear Oh dear Oh dear - low budget nonsense - Alien looks like it was knocked up in someones lunch hour ! - a kind of Blue Peter Alien made out of tape and sticky back plastic Sadly it's films like this that give aliens a bad name ! - avoid if at all possible.
Acting is terrible - fight scenes are just awful - the special effects were obviously programmed on a Sinclair Spectrum or was it a BBC-B ?.
Its a kind of kid next door film - not starring the kid next door - but filmed by the kid next door ! using his 8mm cine camera - I have to admit to not watching the film the whole way through - it was just to painful.
Its the kind of film that gets an actor/actresses career off to totally the wrong start

If you have seen the promotional poster for this movie, then you might think that this has something to do with the highly successful "Alien" franchise or maybe the sequel to "Alien vs Predator". Unfortunately, it's neither. After the first 10 minutes, I was hoping it might be a spoof or parody of the "Alien" movies. Sadly it's not that either. Although it is rather unintentionally funny.
The story revolves around two spaceships that crash land on Earth. One contains a menacing alien and the other an alien hunter that is hunting the alien. Both spaceships land in the vicinity of a small country town where Marty (William Katt), a local newspaper reporter - and wannabe Pulitzer Prize writer - resides. After witnessing an alien attack firsthand, Marty tries to inform the townsfolk of what he saw and they all go to investigate further but eventually find themselves caught up in the hunt. I won't comment any further on the plot line, but if you have seen any of the "Alien" or "Predator" movies, then you can probably guess the rest.
The alien looks a little similar to those seen in the "Alien" movies, but the it has a body of a spider. Due to the rather lackluster special effects in this movie, the alien doesn't look anywhere near as menacing as those seen in the "Alien" movies. The alien hunter looks like a cross between the "Iron Giant" and the robot from "Lost in Space" (the old 60s TV show). And I am making it sound a lot better than what it really is.
This is a strictly straight-to-video movie that will probably get more attention for its cover poster than anything else. It was sad to see William Katt in this movie. I used to like him in the 80s TV show "The Greatest American Hero" and even the "House" horror films, but he really seems miscast in this dud. All the actors are terribly bad probably due to a dire script. There is also some terrible editing, but I have a feeling this was done to hide the atrocious special effects and poor action scenes.
I would categorize this movie in the same class as "Scorpius Gigantus" (2006), "Species III: Set Invasion" (2004) and "Starship Troopers 2: Hero Of The Federation" (2004). All straight-to-video duds with lame special effects, poor editing and terrible acting. Don't waste your time...

This film is total crap. I walked out after watching half an hour. I thought I was going to watch something like AvP. But this is nothing. The hunter looks like the black power ranger with a weird hat wielding a giant gun and the alien looks like a giant spider with claws. The characters are so stupid too.A giant spider alien is chasing them and they sit around and have a town meeting about what to do. Then they go into the pipes somehow and the pipes are so big that they could stand up and walk around freely. I could go on all day about how bad this is but there will be no point. Take my advice and don't ever think about this again.
Then again, maybe this should be considered on the level of SPAM. Anyone who actually pays to see this should be able to sue the supplier for $50,000 as it will use up a portion of your life at least as equal to that.
Guaranteed to give you malaria, typhoid, and the plague all in one dose.
Run for your life away from any thoughts of seeing this and if someone starts to say how much they liked it......... as I said, Run for your life. Oh and call the white coats for that other person.
Dang, I can't submit this comment without typing a minimum of 10 lines. How could I be forced to waste so much effort to tell you it is the WORST I have ever seen. And I remember all those space movies from the 50s and 60s. This is pre-Buck Rogers. It is pre Ice Age script and even Neanderthals could have acted better.

1) Steal the storyline of an upcoming American film. Something big-blockbuster. Make sure you change the title just enough to avoid those pesky copyright infringement lawsuits.
2) Get an actor who is washed up so you can put his name on the DVD cover. Keep William Katt and Bruce Boxleitner on speed dial.
3) Use special effects of YouTube quality. Lots of hungry waifs wanting to show off their stuff.
4) Film you movie in some small town and reuse the same sets over and over again.
5) Pad the movie with pointless action scenes.
6) Have a good time.
Okay, this wasn't a bad film for the Asylum, but it's pretty crappy overall. Of course, since the Alien v. Predator movies sucked pretty bad, it wasn't like they were painting a beard on the Mona Lisa.

Wow! This movie was incompetent in every way, and managed to be worse than the terrible Alien vs. Predator.
The back cover of this movie claims to have special effects from the people who did Fantastic Four. They are awful special effects. The only special effects are the alien's spider legs which are sometimes shown, or the camera focuses on the costume character top half of the alien. The hunter looks like a robot with a Chinese hat, and seems to be a cheap looking clone of the predator. The acting is really bad, and the characters are all stereotypes of typical characters, like the aging hero, the woman who secretly likes him, the military gun freak and many more. Any scene that's supposed to be dramatic has a blue colored lens to make it seem scary (I guess), or a reddish colored lens, and it looks stupid. This is a terrible rip-off of a bad movie.
My rating: BOMB/****. 90 mins. Not rated, contains violence and language.

I registered on IMDb specifically to write this review. I cannot just say that this movie is horrible, because it would be a huge and undeserved compliment to it. The real story is that this pile of garbage was masqueraded as a movie, while is not a movie at all. All aspects of this production are so unprofessional, so there is nothing at all to appreciate. I think that if anybody related to this project had been in a movie theatre, they would never have tainted their names with this rubbish. I watched it to the end just because of my admiration of them for making everything so sloppy and amateurish at a level I never thought possible. They would be a better off making a comedy out of it. I think everybody involved in creating this "masterpiece" should be banned for life from getting closer than 100 meters to any video recording equipment.
I give it one star, because unfortunately IMDb does not have 0-star rating, which what this "movie" really deserves. With all my heart, I give my vote to this production for the "worst movie ever" category.

Because Sci-Fi's "Showdown at Area 51" wasn't enough, The Asylum brings us another exciting rip-off in anticipation of "AVP R". Since the "Alien vs. Predator" sequel is set in a small American town, "Alien vs. Hunter" is set in a small American town. After some helicopter shots we're treated to a middle-aged man jogging, completely oblivious to a huge smoking object crashing behind him. From there we are introduced to an alien and a "hunter" and people die and run around and shoot at stuff.
This particular effort is punctuated by some nice derivative designs. The alien resembles Giger's "Alien" (except for the whole spider thing) and the hunter is a safe re-imagining of the "Predator". In this respect The Asylum have really outdone themselves. This kind of production design could really have helped them on movies like "Alien Abduction". A couple scenes, particularly the tunnel scene, make pretty good use of lighting and the wide aspect ratio. This scene suitably rips off "Alien 3".
The characters are a real low point, though. Our heroes have a few very superficial clichés that pass for character and they are played off one another in a way that makes you wish the monsters would win. There is some solace in watching people get killed off, but it was never the ones I really wanted dead. My favorite line is "Guys, we're on the ship and that totally sucks".
I'm almost used to these quirks by now, even the worst one of never quite getting everything in frame. It's odd watching these because the little flashes of competence give you the feeling that it would have been a solid movie if only they bothered to get the coverage. But down to brass tax, this thing advertises itself on its special effects and there really isn't anything wrong with those. Plus the film wisely avoids much reference to "Alien vs. Predator" and instead liberally rips off the original "Alien", "Predator" and "Aliens".
Without giving anything away, I do have to say the final twist is really irritating. Apart from this, "Alien vs. Hunter" is an essential for any fan of The Asylum.

what can I say, this movie rules it brings out a humanity and makes you care about these people I'd recommend this to everyone! this makes godfather look like a stain. I think it says a lot about the film industry it says you don't need anything to make a movie put in some actors a vague idea of a script and you have art, it's abstract film! if you don't believe me see it yourself because in this world, this is a masterpiece of 07 cinema a triumph of style! this may very well be the best film ever. name one problem with this film i'll argue well. so in general if you don't watch this movie you'll miss out on a lot. it's like taking gold and making it more shiny, it's utter perfection.
just joking, avoid this piece of crap at all costs! now here is why: bad plot, bad acting bad, everything else so, in general this IS the worst of the worst

My friends and I like to watch crappy movies every so often. Inspired by Mystery Science Theater and our knack for on the spot jokes; We set out to find movies worth watching that are in fact...not worth watching. However trouble comes into paradise when these movies can only be found if you buy them. And I am a firm believer in not giving one cent to such a group of talentless scumbags. So, as another reviewer has said, films like this are a reason why downloading movies for free should be legalized. I prefer the idea of; instead of straight to VIDEO you have straight to INTERNET. That way the ass-bags who made this travesty won't ever turn a profit. Which unfortunately you know they do. They hire a bunch of actors who can't act, special effects from a high school classroom, paper machee creatures and ONE car for every character and scene. Why do you think they walk so much in this movie? Because that Toyota Rav-4 That was the Sheriff's squad car that has no markings and no lights also served as that bald guy's car, which is somehow flipped over and destroyed. I guess the stunt driver was just a crack addict they picked up off the street and filmed him trying to drive away and that was the result.
Anyways, the movie is great to make fun of, but you have to make sure there's at least 4 of you and you're all spitting out jokes in rapid fire, because if there's even 1 second of watching this movie where you're not laughing your ass off, you will feel physically ill. I kid you not. My friends and I were eating chicken wings and now I can't even look at such a thing anymore without being reminded of this piece of Sh!t.
This film is second only to Snakes on a TRAIN which is by far the worst movie ever made. And I've seen lots of bad movies. Incidentally, it's the same production company as this film and that bald guy is in both as well. just thought you might like to know that little fun fact. -100 out 0f 10.

What a brilliant feat of artistry.
The acting, direction, and writing is unparalleled.
Not to mention, that dog was amazing. I look forward to seeing more films with him.
While, no Jaws 4, Shmanahanfarfenugen is close to something truly special here.
You really get the feeling you are on a cruise ship being pulled by Alaskan sled dogs.
Shooting in black and white video gives a real sense of the period especially with the Journey soundtrack crackling in the background.
I am not sure the mime moves were correctly translated in the subtitles. A subtle flaw in an otherwise perfect film.

I watched Alien vs. hunter and for what it's worth, I liked it. No, it didn't have a 20 million dollar budget but you can tell the actors were really trying to make the best of it. I liked the special effects. Anyone, I mean anyone can make a bad movie with enough money thrown at it. For example, I just watched "Hot Rod." It is probably the worst film I've ever seen. On the other hand, Alien vs. Hunter is better and that says a lot considering that one had a huge budget and the other didn't. I am a filmmaker and am working on the editing of my project titled Predator World: Terra Firma. I'm using a Sony HDR SR1 and a HC1 (1440x1080i). I would like to recommend the following to the director and DIT/DP. Use a blue tooth wireless microphone. It is amazing at 5.1 Dolby surround sound and a 100-foot crystal clear audio range. You can purchase a SR1 online now for $400.00 and just use it for sound if you have a HVX-200 or Z1U etc. Also, have more cut away shots so the scenes aren't as choppy. Switch camera angles on the main characters so that the audience can anticipate drama. One item on set that is really worth it is a boom arm. Not to forget, the NTSC disc I got at Blockbuster has a red color shift. Hence, I think you guys used HDV. I like to take away some red range of color by using gels or just use scrims. If I don't have a lot of time on set, try using GE REVEAL LIGHTS (Home Depot). Yes, it is like a sunset effect but when you adjust the red out you can get a great skin tone that transfers to NTSC from HDV or AVHCD. If you hate generator noise, go to Costco and buy a portable 400-watt generator for $79.00. It can run a few lights for several hours and weighs 30lbs. No noise. Lastly, shoot in Arizona for your next project. Need tactical gear and troops? We also have much better landscapes than California and the department of taxation will give you big breaks/refunds. Need actors and crew to shoot in AZ? I can arrange it. But Alien vs Hunter was so awful, I became incredibly tempted. I do have a general dislike for The Asylum's films, but this is a serious contender for their worst movie, and it is for me the worst movie I have seen in a long time. The production values are atrocious, in recent memory this is only one of about three or so movies that look as though absolutely no effort has gone into making it, complete with shoddy photography, cheap effects and dull lighting. The story is highly derivative, the script is cheesy and clichéd, the direction is abysmal and the characters could have been made of stone and I still wouldn't have cared in all honesty. The acting is some of the worst I've seen as well, none of the actors look comfortable and none connect to their cardboard characters, while the fight sequences are poorly choreographed and confusingly edited. Overall, appalling and one of the worst films I've seen. 0/10 Bethany Cox

I don't know how many of you that watched this movie watched it for the same reason I did???? I honestly thought that this was a lost or not highly publicized title in the Alien v. Predator sequence. I thought I stumbled across a jewel. Well, needless to say that this movie has nothing to do with the Alien v. Predator movies, and it sure ain't no jewel.
I am rather ashamed of myself this time. One: because I was fooled by the title of this movie, and two: because it took me a good half hour before I had the mind to turn the movie off. The opening credits and scenes looked very low budget and cheesy, but I thought maybe this was just the beginning and that it would get better... How wrong I was, and I eventually realized the truth. This was a B grade piece of junk. Upon that realization I stopped the DVD, thought about kicking myself but decided to sulk and pout instead.

Sometimes a movie is so bad that it's good (i.e. Night of the Comet). This isn't one of those movies.
Some movies are so bad that you wish you had never seen them. This would be one of those movies, but it has one redeeming quality: it sets a new benchmark for horrible sci-fi / horror movies. Once you've seen it, you'll watch other movies and find yourself saying, "Well, at least it wasn't as bad as 'Alien vs. Hunter'".
Looking past the fact that this is a complete ripoff of "AVP", the acting and production quality aren't too bad. What ruins this movie is the plot / script (not sure what word is best here). It's not that the movie is confusing by any means, like when a complicated movie gets edited too much and loses its meaning, although it does seem that editing is at least part of the problem. There are plot holes left and right, and I constantly found myself wondering why the characters acted as they did. Sometimes you could chalk it up to the typical "girl runs upstairs to avoid murderer" nonsense used to draw the plot along, but other times it just seemed to be random events strung together. It would be like watching a movie where a guy is running from a monster towards an abandoned hospital then the monster is chasing him through a house of mirrors at a fun house.
And now my brain hurts from trying to think about the movie. Go see it if you want your brain to hurt.

Was in a hurry at Blockbuster, grabbed it out of the 4 for $20 bin thinking it was Alien vs. Predator (just like they wanted me to).
Got home, plugged it in, and after 5 minutes threw a $hit fit screaming "They got me".
Ugggg!!!!! Got conned. The movie was so bad that after 10 minutes I was watching just to see how much worse it would get. And boy, did they push the edge.
If there is someone that you really hate, someone that you wish would die from genital herpes and head lice. Then strap them down in front of a T.V. screen. Tape their eyelids open. Plug in this movie, and force them to watch it.
From now on, I will check the back of every movie to make sure it is not Asylum.

This is one of the worst movies i ever saw. The CGI is just terrible, even by asylum standards. This movie was made to cash on with the succsess of "alien vs predator" and it's sequels. Many newcomers maybe confuse it or think that it's a part of the alien/predator franchise. It is not, do not watch the movie unless you hate yourself.

AVH( Alien Vs Hunter) Theasylum.cc
Directed by: SCOTT HARPER Written by: David MICHAEL LATT
Starring: WILLIAM KATT, DEDEE PFEIFFER, RANDY MULKEY This proves Theasylum knows their product well. Really well done with a budget to make you curious, Special props to Randy Mulkey. Yes,Its one of those similar to a fault features that LATT does so well,BUT,This could be a TV pilot for AVP If LARRY BUCHANAN was still plying his craft. The make-up/costumes of titled characters The Alien is an awesome image and moved well, The Hunter had a very different look than one would assume Kind of like TETSUO. The cast-William Katt was fun,But not any where near a heroic performance. DeDee Pfeiffer,This was first time I've seen her, Quite a firecracker throughout .Randy Mulkey was just exactly perfect for his part, Latt use him more ! So,The box cover WONT trick you into watching, Back cover might LOL !

For those who don't know who the Asylum are or do they are a movie company that created low-budget versions of big budget blockbusters such as Transformer the asylum making there version with a very similar tittle Trasmorphers. Also snakes on a plane staring Samuel L. Jackson there version tittled snakes on a train. In my books Alien vs hunter gets a 10/10 for being such a fun movie but a 0/10 when taken as a series action flick. As most of you know AVH: Alien vs hunter is a knock-off of the popular Alien vs Predator. The Hunter looked like something out of the halo games and the alien had a very similar head shape to the original Alien (1979). The CGI is terrible the acting is cheesy and the camera work is shocking. But if you enjoy a good bad movie for a laugh I suggest you rent a copy on DVD if not stay away from this and when I say that I mean anything made by the asylum.
