This is the first Indonesian movies which deal with self discovery issue with commedy setting..... the director Ernest have proven that he could narrate a sensitive issue of woman issue in a light approach to make the audience stay focus for 110 minutes..... I must say this is the best Indonesian drama comedy for 2019. I wish there will be better movies coming from Ernest and his wife in the future...... they are the best movie maker in Indonesia.
How should I start reviewing this movie? I will first want you to think one thing, movies always have objective, either sending messages, pure entertainment, or combination of both. I won't say one of them is better than the other, since it always goes back to how every movie touches the heart of its viewers.
Plot is nearly perfect. Following the life of a woman that has insecurities because of her physical appearance, I believe many of us relate to the story. You will understand many things about having imperfect physical appearance. Love life, career, friendships, and everybody's perception.
Conflicts are great. I think this aspect is what I love the most. Director has detailed scenes showing the contrast of having perfect versus imperfect body since the very first beginning until end of the movie. Movie is clearly showing about the privilege you can get by simply being more beautiful.
Characters are rich. I have to point out about this movie having perfect portioning of giving life to its characters. Nobody is over or underexposed. Everybody is playing very important role and contributing well to drive the plot.
Dialogues are beautiful. Yes! Please keep this in mind before you watch the movie. It contains a lot of critics to our society, sometimes wrapped by good jokes.
Messages are powerful. I think this aspect is what really giving us the messages. I love about this movie is not only saying that we love to ourselves more (changing insecurities to gratefulness), but also to stop judging and defining beauty of other people. This movie is standing exactly in the middle of social issue, both victims and doers, trying its best to infuse great lessons that we, as both victims and doers, can do much better than what we are doing right now.
I have to give it 1 point less because it lacks a little bit of emotional development. Some good side stories are not fully used to bring up emotions even more. However, this should not stop you to watch this wonderful piece of Ernest and his team. Do give this a chance to watch it now, before this movie gets re-recognized in the future for its beauty.

Body shaming is not a joke. IMPERFECT's bring us all strong message to our society, even yourself. There was a two perspective that we can get from this movie. One, you don't have to take it personally to what other people said to you. Two, start to love yourself and don't punish your body to be a perfect, because nobody was.
I'm not saying that change your look was bad, but what it matters is you have to love yourself, start from your heart. Beauty or handsome is not about a bright skin, cute face, or good looking, but it's about how special you are.
Don't judge your body, don't hate your life. Stop being an insecure and start to be grateful. But I have to admit that Jessica Mila did great for this movie!
Imperfect brings you a perfect package of social reality, comedy, romance, education and moral values. It didnt come with plot twist or high tech special effect, but it come with a theme, messages and the act which perfectly blends as if we see daily reality in form of movie. The jokes, oh my god, it so natural and yet is very funny, me and my wife cannot stop laugh even after we reach home. Jessica Mila deserves 5 stars for her totality in this movie, my first watch ever Jessica Mila movie and I'm instantly impressed. Reza Rahardian living the hype as big name in this movie, but the one who mostly steal the scene is the quartet comicas with their natural jokes. For ke and my wife, this is our first Indonesian movie ever we watch in theatre and no regret at all !!

So many good valuable things on this film.
Must watch with entire family.
Thx u so much kokoh Ernest Prakarsa for making such an awesome movie like this !
Although this film delivers a good moral message, I felt that its delivery was overly direct and obvious.
In terms of writing, I wasn't too fond of how the characters interacted with each other. They didn't seem to converse as people do in real life. The acting sometimes felt exaggerated for comedic effect. Ernest also allowed actors to improvise, but in some scenes, these improvisations felt unnatural and made the pacing drag.
Additionally, some of the jokes felt forced.
However, I did find the storyline engaging and enjoyed it overall. One of the highlights for me was the group of female friends living together. Despite their roles primarily being comic relief, I think they could be developed into more interesting characters.
In fact, I found their story more compelling than the middle-class family narratives that have been prevalent in Indonesian cinema recently.

Honestly, just by seeing the title I can guess how's the story will going. And all I guess is true. For me it's not really interesting.
But it has many moral values so I just ignore the plot.
It's rated for 13+ but-- it does has some adult jokes. For me it's too much for Indonesian teenager under 17. I believe some under 17 audience wouldnt understand.
I like how they develop the comedy scenes (except the adult jokes). For me its like 9.5/10 but I give it an 8 because it's plot hehe

I rarely watch Indonesian movie except for Ernest Prakasa movie. Since Ngenest, i found that every film from him made a good impression on both humour & morality. This film shows that being imperfect is fine because we are just normal human which have imperfect side in our daily life. From this film, i learn to be more grateful for what i have & stop being too much insecure thinking of everything. Brilliant acting from Jessica Mila & Reza Rahadian as main cast & special credit to these 4 ladies comica (especially Kiky & Tsa2) who could made us laugh so hard during these film. Another stunning job from Ernest Prakasa & Meira Anastasia & waiting for their next film

This movie is full of clichés, the script tries to be funny rather than tells a story, and you can easily guess the plot.
Though I respect and appreciate the message which is very strong and empowering to anti-body shaming movement.
Maybe this isn't Ernest Prakasa's best film, but it's still worth watching. The message of the story is quite powerful and the comedy is also quite entertaining.

This film is entertaining and funny. This movie motivates me to be more confident and help me to understand that everyone is beautiful in their own way. Never to judge people only by their look whether they are ugly or fat but to see also their personality.

Imperfect perfectly stays within the comfort zone of what's Ernest Prakasa good at. A fully-functioned support system for the main character to endure highs and lows of their character development. It's not that it's not good, but after watching few of his works, it feels very formulaic. You could check all the elements like lovable main characters with his/her love interests, witty dialogues, sitcom-ish setups all over the story, and don't forget the big rom-com ending. It has beautiful meanings too. The formula works, but I wish there is some twist to make the movie fresher.
