As a 'first time to the table' feature this is a truly remarkable short piece of cinema. As he does in his second short film "Jubilee", writer/director Doug Rao crafts a piece of work which is almost epic in sweep, yet fills its fifteen minute running time perfectly. Edgy and uncompromising in outlook, the script asks difficult questions of the characters and the audience. It offers no simple solutions, and leaves you wanting more. I found myself wishing that there was more. There is a lyrical beauty to the bleakness of this tale that is at once disturbing and poetic. I sincerely hope that the director does release this on DVD or download. A sublime piece of work.
