Exclusive: Going into the American Film Market, Bankside Films is launching international sales on horror The Not Polly, which will be directed by 47 Meters Down filmmaker Johannes Roberts.

Bankside and Roberts are teaming on the film with Japanese producer and music industry executive Yasushi Akimoto who originated the film’s story. Production is scheduled for the end of this year in Kentucky.

Little Fires Everywhere and Destroyer actress Jade Pettyjohn is set to star in the movie as Polly, the most popular and most beautiful girl in school, who wakes up after a party to find that she is trapped in a morgue, apparently dead, with no reflection, no pulse and no heartbeat. To make matters worse, she has been possessed.

James Harris (47 Meters Down) of Tea Shop Productions is producing alongside Sean DeMott (The Free Fall). Riki Melwani (Crows Blood) and Eiko Matsumoto from Akimoto Studios will also be producing.

Summer is about to finally, blessedly be in full swing. And to honor the occasion, Hulu is showing up big with its list of new releases for June 2022.

Hulu is bringing two major TV titles to its stream this month. The first is The Orville: New Horizons on June 2. Seth MacFarlane’s sci-fi/comedy started as a simple Star Trek parody on Fox before blossoming into its own entirely sincere space adventuring beast. Now “New Horizons” promises to be a fresh start for the series on Hulu. Next up is Only Murders in the Building season 2 on June 28. Season 1 of this Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez-starring series was a big hit. Let’s see if our favorite podcasters can pull it off once again.

Gravitas Ventures has acquired worldwide rights to horror film The Free Fall which Myriad Pictures handles internationally and launched talks with buyers at AFM.

Adam Stilwell directed the film about a suicidal young woman who must contend with an overbearing husband. Shawn Ashmore, Andrea Londo, and Jane Badler lead the cast.

Gravitas has set a day-and-date North American theatrical and VoD release for January 14, 2022. Paul Holbrook, Sean E. Demott , Gill Gayle, and Patrick Rizzotti produced The Free Fall and executive producers are Heisman Holbrook, Shaun Redick and Yvette Yates.

Exclusive: Maxim Swinton (Halston) has joined the cast of Raymond and Ray, writer-director Rodrigo García’s (Four Good Days) film for Apple Studios.

He joins an ensemble that includes Ewan McGregor, Ethan Hawke, Maribel Verdú and Sophie Okonedo, as previously announced.

The film currently in production in Virginia centers on Raymond (McGregor) and Ray (Hawke), half-brothers who have lived in the shadow of a terrible father. Somehow, they still each have a sense of humor, and his funeral is a chance for them to reinvent themselves. US directors Jim Cummings and Pj McCabe’s feature The Beta Test will open the UK’s genre film festival Grimmfest which is running as a physical event in Manchester from October 7-10.

Cummings and McCabe will also star in the film about a Hollywood agent who gets sucked into a world of sexual infidelity and mysterious streams of digital data. Los Angeles based-Vanishing Angle produced the horror thriller. The feature initially premiered in the Berlin International Film Festival’s Encounters.
