G STORM is the last in the series of five Hong Kong thrillers about the ICAC police department headed by tough cop Louis Koo. This series started off in 2014 fairly averagely before descending in quality for the immediate two sequels. The next film was a bit better, and this one is too. There's more drive and determination behind this one so if you can handle the cheesy overacting on occasion and the CGI augmented stunts and explosions then you'll enjoy it as much as I did. Koo is a dependable hero and the fast-moving plot draws in peripheral characters in the tale of Thai people smugglers. I did like the nihilistic angle of the action sequences; the shoot-outs are surprisingly ruthless. The ending is amusingly sentimental.
