A film based on a popular animated series in French, as someone who is not familiar with the lore, it felt very compact, easy to digest and had a good time watching it.
In terms of the cast, obviously, Ladybug / Marinette and Cat Noir / Adrien are the ones that carried the film whole through. Through sequences and their actions, Marinette is shown to be a shy and clumsy girl who continues to doubt herself due to her fears. And as the film progressed, it's very easy to connect with her. As for Adrien, he is charming and relatable because he too also has personal problems but related to his father. Knowing that they are the core of the movie, it is no doubt that they are filled with personalities and you can't help but feel their pairing - and they are made for one another. So long as they believe and work together, nothing can really stand in there way and that's what makes them worth rooting for - from teamwork, friendship and eventually love.
When it comes to the genre aspect of the film, the musical, for the most part, was surprisingly good. Granted, considering the original series was not, some may find it corny at times. But this reviewer found it to be really great to listen to. Out of the eight songs played in the film, seven if not including the show's theme song, three stood out as the best. Two were solos, one by Marinette and the other by Adrien and the third one when they sang it as a duo - which was very romantic. There is this one song though, that is so popular, it was so surprising that it was used in the film.
Animation-wise, unlike the series that has not-so-fluid animation, considering that it is a feature-length film, it is more smooth to look at alongside the voice acting that was really great as expected.
As for the story, it was able to flesh out the characters and didn't really need a lot of exposition to do so. Even though the film feels very rushed in order to get from point A to B, it's really hard not to enjoy the ride. Just to add, there were certain sequences, particularly in the second act, that felt very similar to other films such as Smurfs 2, Ghostbusters (2016) and Hercules - if you see it then you will understand. It's also nice to mention the Sailor Moon vibes such as the transformation as well as the typical villains. The final act, while it could have been a lot better and impactful, felt satisfying by the end. It could have stopped there but seems like there are plans for another film.
Overall, it's hard for this reviewer to dislike the film. It was fun, charming and an innocent film. Despite its cheesiness, the core of the film, Marinette and Adrien, just made the movie work because of their friendship and romance. As someone who is just a casual fan or have little to no idea about the lore at all, it was a really good time watching Miraculous: Ladybug and Cat Noir, The Movie.

I went into this movie with very high expectations after seeing the beautiful animation in all the trailers. But, while i was watching it, I was just underwhelmed. Everyone seems to have an issue with the songs, but I thought they were pretty good. My issue was all the skips. I understand It's hard to fit the premise of an entire show into a movie but it was definitely rushed. 1. Plagg wasn't even introduced until way later (and he was introduced by farting?) 2. Adrien didn't really have a reason to have the miraculous... he didn't save anyone. 3. the powers weren't explained at all, the cataclysm basically came out of nowhere.. Adrien and Gabriel don't really seem to have any relationship either, they have like 5 minutes on screen together minus the ending. And the scene switching was a mess. After Ladybug left when Cat was about to kiss her, it just cut to a 3 second clip of him staring at the Eifel tower, then it cut to another scene? In my opinion, the whole plot seems rushed and new viewers who have never seen the show are definitely going to be confused.

The movie is okay to watch, the animation is definitely stunning. But the plot felt so, so bad. Everything felt so rushed and not well thought out. It didn't feel like we were following a timeline, instead it just felt like a recap of the show. Especially with jumping over all of those fights in the middle. And the songs definitely didn't help either. They felt so trashy and bad, almost like an info dump. They were only there to tell a story the movie couldn't show.
Overall all, it's a kids movie, so you really shouldn't have high expectations. But still, too rushed and all over the place for my taste.

Myself and my kids were so so excited for this! The characters are true to the series and the villains style too. If you're a true fan of MLB then you'll enjoy. I did feel it wasn't as funny/cheesy as the series which is why I love the series so much and it does spend a lot of time on character development and the love story part. The singing was unexpected abs quite frankly annoying! Hardly any happy songs. My daughters liked the singing but I think I would've rated higher if the singing wasn't there.
On the whole an ok start to a movie franchise but hopefully more chemistry and humour in the second one.

I'm not sure why peoplel r giving this movie 10. It's just short dense movie of the TV show, with little growth for the character. The singing was awful! To me the voice didn't go with the character. I agree with another reviewer who pointed out that you don't see plagg until later on. Even Marianette's dad is annoying. You dont' get the frustrstion of Marianette and Adrian idenity like you do in the show. Even the ending was disappointing as much as people want to see that happy ending, you learn from the TV show that it's impossible. Keep making the T. V. show instead! 100 percent better!!!!

Those who are upset about it being a musical and it not aligning with the shows have not been paying attention the last 3 years of updates. They told us from the beginning it was a musical and that it wouldn't align with the shows storyline, so those placing bad reviews on that just didn't pay attention. But overall this film exceeded my expectations. The soundtrack is just beautiful. Especially Courage in Me. Phenomenal. The romantic tension was there and was beautiful. I will say I'm am very sad to see Ce Mur Qui Nous Sépare was not in it, but the rest of the soundtrack really made up for that. Jeremy did a phenomenal job with listening to what the fans want. I'm looking forward to a sequel 🤞

Taking off a couple stars for Marinette's singing voice 😭😭 Why did Christina Vee not sing??? Other than that, the movie was spectacular. I was sad it didn't play into the plot line of the actual show and kind of ends on a note that suggests there will be no further movies, but otherwise, I loved it. I laughed a lot, thought the banter between characters was amazing, and can appreciate how graphically stunning it is. Bravo to everyone who worked on this. Each character was beautifully animated and captured their original animation while also greatly enhancing it at the same time. The ending was so sweet.

The voices are not the same as the TV show, the singing voices do not match and the storyline was ridiculous, utterly ridiculous.
It would be great if they didn't do an altered origin story AND a rushed ending to tie up the whole storyline. Given this is a TV show with mini movies, a continuation would have been appreciated. Also, what was wrong with using the original voice cast?
There was a lot of complaining from the kids about how they changed the story and too much singing. Feels disney-fied and ruined. We will push this one to the back and pretend it never happened.
Is it possible to get a refund of my time?

First things first I did really enjoy this movie but I've been a fan miraculous snice 2015 and have been looking forward to this for years I probably had my hopes high so for me it was a bit of a let down. The songs were okay but marinette's singing voice kinda confused me, it sounded nothing like her voice. Something I really liked is the character development from the start to the end of the movie (and the tv show too honestly) they where completely different people. Though the first hour (I think) just felt a bit like a prologue and if you had seen the tv show nothing really interesting happens.

I feel the songs are just out of place. It is like the producers desperately wanted to make a hit movie like Frozen and therefore made it into a half musical. And the songwriters was probably told that each song must be a hit. So there is no balance between the songs. There are too many "heavy" prouction songs instead of a few heavy mixed with more light and simple songs.
Apart from the songs the movie was maybe a 6. The story was so so. It was too much focused on the love between Ladybug and Cat Noir. It was a bit unclear what the story was aiming for and why. So overall it is a messy movie. Well made when it comes to the animations but lack of a good story and filled with out of place musical songs.

This movie is literally everything a Miraculous fan wanted it to be any simple alternate universe. It's seriously a treat in every way. Marinette and Adrien are extremely nicely fleshed out within less than 2 hours which is simply a job well done. The natural behavior of the two is simply way more endearing than the show and the animation with beautiful music just tops it all. The way the movie focuses on one particular trait of both the mains and how they struggle out of it with the outer dread in the form of a better fleshed Hawkmoth is seriously better than the show. The show never tried to point it out on a single behavioral weakness of the characters which made them the way they are which the movie does better.
Its seriously sad it wasnt released in theatre everywhere because its way better on a bigger screen.
Just go for it even when you don't know the characters, you will love ittttttttt!!!!!!

From the beginning to the end, this movie has really nice animation, lighting, and colours, everything looks realistic. The storyline is similar but different from the show, it's a bit more fast-paced but that's what I expect from the movie, it's focused more on Ladybug and Catnoir unlike the show has an equal balance between the characters. I really enjoyed this movie but I was surprised at the musical numbers, I was not expecting these to be the movie and every time they would start to sing I found myself enjoying the movie more, but I did find Marinette's singing voice to be a 180 from her normal speaking voice. Also, the storyline in the movie makes it so Gabriel is redeemable and apologetic for his actions unlike his show counterpart and I found that I liked this Gabriel a lot more. I love the character designs, especially Chloe's!

This movie made me feel young again. I've been a fan of the series since it began, and this movie brought back some sweet memories. Magical and life-changing. The musical aspect is perfectly combined with the romance portrayed. The melodies and songs make sense within the plot and immerse you more into the movie. I loved every second of it. The tension, the romance, the pinning, the uncertainty. So many emotions to be felt. A must watch if you are a long term fan of the franchise, or if you love musicals with good animation (such as disney movies). Can't wait for the next movies and to hear what the rest of the public thinks!

Let me first say that my daughters LOVE the series, LOVE IT. They have probably watched every episode 8 times. They even know every detail about the school, the families, and the entire city. Again, THEY LOVE THE SERIES.
With that said, THEY MADE ME SHUT THIS MOVIE OFF 25 MINUTES INTO IT (they also fast forwarded thru the singing.)
Don't ruin what has worked people. They never learn. I gave 3 stars because the animation was really well done. It stops at that. I heard my 8 year old finally say something "sucks"... That was about the singing. Even though the different voices bothered me, I probably would have given this 3 more stars without the singing.

I had high expectations waiting for over 3 years for this movie and they were not met while the movie itself was gorgeous and tons of parts were funny and fun. I felt myself bored and not really into the characters except for maybe Marinette and tiki. Like the rest of the reviews; the singing voice was very jarring and took me right out of the movie. Not to mention almost all of Marinette's songs are very slow. The way the company set up this film was that it was a standalone that you could watch it with Someone who doesn't know anything about miraculous because it's a retelling but so much was lost in the retelling. We don't understand the powers the cataclysm at the end seems like it comes out of nowhere. The last huge complaint I have with the movie was the time skips. Everything was just too crunched the story got lost between the montages and musical numbers. I did love marinette's dad. He was so sweet in this. I also loved Allya and nino hilarious. Tiki was my favorite though. Her personality seemed to be very developed. It was so much fun.
