Rose angrily removes the paper flowers from the dinner table after Phil mocks them, but in the next shot, the flowers are back in front of Phil.

In the first dinner scene Peter serves Phil his dinner in daytime, but when he walks back into the kitchen it is suddenly dark as night.

Opening shot through windows shows very clear glass. 100 years ago it would have been wavy.

Peter's bright white canvas shoes remain spotlessly clean even after he crawled on the ground when he discovered Phil's secret stash. Peter's shoes are particularly visible when he slides the rope under his bed.

Early in the movie a sign near the railroad tracks says "Beech, MT," but two-letter state abbreviations did not come into use until 1963.

Peter uses a hula hoop to burn off some of his anger. The modern hula hoop, however, was introduced in 1958. While Native Americans use hoops in traditional dances these are used in very different ways to the modern hula hoop.

In two scenes, Kodi uses rubber gloves. These had been invented by 1925 but not in regular use until the 1960's.

Prohibition under the 18th Amendment did not ban consumption of alcoholic beverages, only their manufacture, sale, and transportation. Many hotels and restaurants in the United States stocked up on alcohol in the months leading up to Prohibition taking effect in January 1920; Rose and her employees could have served alcohol for "free." Or they could simply have been breaking the law in a small town that seems to have little government oversight.

Peter is asked by his mother to kill some chickens for an evening meal for the cowboys. In a following scene individually cooked commercial chicken breasts have been plated up. In the 1920s chicken would have been roasted whole or fried "on the bone".

About 50 minutes into the movie, as ranch hands call him names, Peter walks toward a tree where nesting birds are raising chicks. The birds are Australian Magpies, which are not found in Montana.

When Rose teaches George how to dance in Montana, the mountains in the background are clearly Cecil and Walter Peaks (ka Kamu a Haki te Kura) and the Remarkables (Kawarau), landmarks that dominate the view from Queenstown, New Zealand.

Both Peter and Phil had to crawl through the wood tunnel to find the secret lake and porn stash. How on earth is it that Phil's saddled-up horse is grazing by the lake when Peter spies Phil swimming in the lake - there's no way that horse squeezed through the tunnel.

As a barmaid in a tough western town, Rose certainly would have been a regular cigarette smoker.
