I'm obsessed. The amount of information communicated in each 12ish minute episode is... astounding. It is a master class in economical and effective screenwriting. Multiple fun conventions, like BFF Dan played by various white men in the same shirt, repeated line, "It's 6 inches, you just have to measure it diagonally," and a beach full of lovers' lost ID bracelets, along with brilliant, grounded performances make for the mix of melancholic absurdity with laugh-out-loud moments that is my personal ideal vibe. Mamoudou Athie is a goddamn gift. Georgina Campbell is an extremely welcome familiar face from Hang the DJ, my favorite Black Mirror episode. More of her formidable British talent everywhere, please. Also, the music throughout is stellar. Ugh. I love this show so much. Where has it been all my life? Can I ever hope to create something that strikes this nerve it has hit in me? Bravo to all involved. I think this show is perfect and it has inspired me. I'm lovingly foisting it on to friends and family. So far no one has complained.
Oh and I don't think the episodes are too short. I think they are exactly as long as they need to be. The fact that they only need to be 12 minutes is mind blowing and truly, the tightness of the storytelling is a feat to behold. Ugh. Gonna go watch it again. Thank you.
