At the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards, House of Saddam received 4 nominations.
Contrary to what's depicted in the series, unity talks did continue with Syria after Saddam took over. They were suspended indefinitely after the alleged discovery of a Syrian plot to overthrow him which he used as a pretext to purge the ruling Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party.
