Mahi is nicknamed Mayavi for his ability to beat up baddies stealthily without revealing his identity. He often ends up in jail. While serving time he develops a friendship with Balan, another convict. Balan's brother is seriously ill in hospital and is in need of an expensive operation. Meanwhile Mahi is picked as the lone lucky prisoner to be pardoned and released on Independence Day. With Balan unable to provide the funds from inside the jail and since his release is a long way off, Mahi promises to find a way to procure the money.

A Power Hitting Movie by Mammootty. The film stars three National Award winners (Mammootty, Suraj and Salim Kumar) in a love and hate film. I really liked the song muttathe mulle chollu.

Mayavi

I have probably watched Mayavi more than 10 times. It is probably my favorite movie of all time. I was a fan of Mohanlal and Mayavi was the movie that turned me around and made me like Mammootty better than Mohanlal. I wish that a second part of this movie was made but I don&#39;t think there are any plans to do so. Sad.
