Originally, the film was conceived as a teen comedy with Emma Roberts as Liv and Nikki Reed as Emma.
One shot during the reception includes a complicated series of dance steps. After many failed attempts, an extra who happened to be a dance instructor asked to teach the actors how to perform the steps correctly.
Several wives and girlfriends of the 2009 Red Sox players were extras in the wedding shower scene.
