With an aggressive marketing campaign and stellar reviews, Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity is poised to easily take first place this weekend. The real question at this point is how high it can go, though it's hard to imagine an original Fall release debuting above $40 million or so. Runner Runner also opens this weekend, though it's unlikely that the Justin Timberlake/Ben Affleck thriller puts much of a dent in Gravity's grosses.Opening at 3,575 locations, Gravity stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as two astronauts who are stranded in orbit after their shuttle is destroyed. Advertisements for the movie put the astronauts in all kinds of precarious situations, which has nicely showcased the movie's stunning visuals and intense, high-stakes thrills. As of late, commercials have also emphasized the movie's reviews, which are nothing short of fantastic (it currently has a 98 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes). If there's any complaint to be made about the marketing,...

This a great blending of companies and material. Canada's sales agents have always led the way internationally and Mexico is our pick of cinema territory on the rise.
Toronto-based sales and distribution outfit Raven Banner has picked up international rights to Rafa Lara’s historical epic Cinco de Mayo: The Battle and will commence world sales in Cannes.
Directed by young Mexican sensation, Rafa Lara, the $10 million dollar action adventure is the biggest budget Mexican film to date and was released on a record 500 prints in Mexico. Update: Daniel Radcliffe will go from playing upright wizard to creepy assistant. The Harry Potter star is in final talks to play Igor, Dr. Frankenstein's hunchback assistant in 20th Century Fox's Frankenstein.
One can only assume Radcliffe will take inspiration from Dobby in how to say "Master" in the most disconcerting manner.

Many remember him as Fez in the popular sitcom, ‘That 70’s Show’, but nowadays actor and activist Wilmer Valderrama has moved forward becoming more than just the shadow behind the funny character.
Beyond his participation in the Fox’ successful TV show, the actor, just in the past year, has starred in more than six different TV series, NBC ‘s “Awake” and Fox’ “Raising Hope” begin some of the most prominent.
In the big screen he has also made a name for himself in films like “From Prada to Nada” and “Larry Crowne.”
Born in Miami from Colombian and Venezuelan parents but rised between Venezuela and the United States, Valderrama has made sure to keep himself relevant both in the entertainment industry and in the political arena, which he has entered in recent years, through his Latino roots.

Football's most famous virgin, Tim Tebow, has reportedly broken up with actress Camilla Belle after a mere two months of dating.
Us Weekly reports that the relationship "just didn't work out." Hmm, we wonder why.
Could the couple have split because the 25-year-old New York Jets quarterback is saving himself for marriage?
Anything is possible, though Belle, 26, is no stranger to dating self-professed virgins. The "From Prada to Nada" actress dated Joe Jonas right after his infamous breakup with Taylor Swift -- which included a 27-second goodbye in the form of a phone call.
Belle herself hasn't gone on record to discuss her own virginity or lack thereof; however, Swift has insinuated that the actress is definitely not in the purity ring club.
Swift famously trashed the actress in her song "Better Than Revenge," which is believed to be about how Belle stole Jonas away from her. In the song,...

On Friday, actress Alex Vega (“Spy Kids,” “From Prada to Nada”) tweeted the following to her fans: “Going back to blonde! Ahhh. So weird. Gonna miss my dark hair...But today is a new beginning. Starting fresh.”
After spending hours at an L.A. hair salon on Friday, Alexa sent The Huffington Post an exclusive photo of her new blonde look (see the photo above!) this morning.
While Alexa seemed really excited about dying her hair , not everyone was thrilled about her decision to go from brunette to blonde. One of Alexa's followers (@Jairo_Rockzz on Twitter), had this to say about the change in hair color. “Nooooo! You look prettier and Hotter with dark hair... Well actually you look great being a blond too, but...Idk!” Alexa replied, saying: "lol. Goin back to blonde for a movie."

Wilmer Valderrama makes Casanova look like The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Over the past decade or so, the suave Venezuelan-American has been linked to everyone from Jennifer Love Hewitt to Demi Lovato — at this point, he’s definitely better known as a prolific dater than as That ’70s Show’s goofy foreign-exchange student Fez. And according to a recently tweeted photo, it seems that Valderrama is currently Wilmering yet another gorgeous starlet: former Friday Night Lights actress — and Derek Jeter ex — Minka Kelly.

Hispanic-Americans are among the Us's keenest film-goers, but Hollywood offers them little more than stereotypes
• What global box-office stories would you like to see in After Hollywood? Let us know in the comments below
It's not obvious what language Will Ferrell's new film, Casa de Mi Padre, is speaking. Everyone's favourite cross-eyed man-child had last-minute cramming sessions in order to be able to drawl the Spanish-language dialogue for the comedy – a sendup of cheesy rural-Mexico telenovelas. But just as Ferrell admits he still can't really hold a conversation in Spanish, Casa looks like it could have communication issues, too. Is it a deft in-joke for the Us's movie-mad Hispanic audience? Or does Ferrell's presence just crank up the irony factor for the urban-hipster crowd to indulge yet another cultural fetish?
Movie executives would, if they had to choose, plump for the former. As well as the largest ethnic minority,...

[1] In what sounds like a perfect match of filmmaker and material, Nora Ephron is set to write and direct Lost in Austen, a cinematic adaptation of a 2008 British miniseries about a modern-day Jane Austen fan who finds herself dropped into the middle of the events of Pride & Prejudice. Also on board is Bond 23 director Sam Mendes, who will produce with Pippa Harris. More details after the jump. The original Lost in Austen series saw London woman Amanda Price (Jemima Rooper) switching places with Pride & Prejudice heroine Elizabeth Bennett (Gemma Arterton) via a magic portal in Amanda's 21st century bathroom. Amanda attempts to ensure that events unfold as they did in Austen's novel, but finds herself falling for the handsome Mr. Darcy (Elliot Cowan). The present-day setting will be moved to New York City for Ephron's adaptation. No cast is attached at this time. Although not all of Ephron's work...

Written and directed by Rodriguez, the movie stars Jessica Alba (Little Fockers) as a retired secret agent who’s called back to stop the maniacal Timekeeper (Jeremy Piven, TV’s Entourage). But Alba also has to deal with a baby and her two intelligent twin step-children (Rowan Blanchard and Mason Cook). They get help, of course, from the two former spy kids (Alexa Vega of From Prada to Nada and Daryl Sabara, Machete), as well as their dog Argonaut (Ricky Gervais,...

Julie Roberts starts to understanding what Tom Hanks is driving at in Larry Crowne.
The comedy-drama romance (okay, we’ll call it a romantic comedy, as well) Larry Crowne, starring Tom Hanks (Road to Perdition) and Julia Roberts (Eat Pray Love), fills the slot of feel-good movie of the summer of 2011.
Directed and co-written by Hanks, the film sets its sights on the happy-go-lucky company man Larry Crowne (Hanks), who finds himself edged out of his job in a downsizing. Larry takes the loss of his job in stride and decides to start over by enrolling at a local college. At school, he quickly falls in with a colorful pack of scooter-riding outcasts, but it’s in his public-speaking class where Larry develops an unexpected crush on his beautiful but troubled teacher, Mercedes Tainot (Roberts). Chicago – It’s fun espionage time at the movies this week, as “Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D” introduces some new young adventurers to the popular series, Mason Cook and Rowan Blanchard. Former kid Alexa Vega also appears in the film.
It’s been eight years since the third Spy Kids movie, all of them conceived and directed by Robert Rodriguez. As one of the first in 2003 to re-introduce 3D to the cinemas, Rodriguez goes one more with 4D, also known as Aromascope. Audience members will receive a numbered card, and once a number is flashed on the screen, the cards are to be rubbed and sniffed. Yes, you will be able to smell the film.
Spy Kids old and new came to Chicago recently to promote the movie, with the latest kids Mason Cook and Rowan Blachard joining classic kid Alexa Vega for an interview with HollywoodChicago.

In honor of Mila Kunis doing, well, anything at all but, more specifically, getting partially naked in this week's Friends With Benefits, I figured we'd take a quick glance around at the former cast of "That '70s Show" and see who the big winner from the series really is. A few years ago, the obvious (and regrettable) frontrunner would be Ashton Kutcher, who has now transformed himself into a Twitter star, not a movie star. And rightfully so.
So here are the highlights of the show's major players and a brief listing of what each one of them has been doing since the show wound down in 2006. In most cases, the lists are neither lengthy nor notable. Still, let's start off with the former frontrunner turned douche, shall we?
Ashton Kutcher (as Michael Kelso): What Happens in Vegas; Valentine's Day; Killers; No Strings Attached.
His Next Move: Replacing Charlie Sheen...

The source material is pretty thin but original 1980s videogame sensation Space Invaders will be made into a feature film by prolific producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers) and Odd Lot Entertainment (From Prada to Nada). The game rotates through screens where aliens fire upon the grounded player as they descend down the screen...the player is firing back and has to eliminate all the aliens before he is eliminated. That's all there is to the game. Film adaptations of Space Invaders have been attempted before without success. Di Bonaventura is also working on an adaptation of another popular 80s videogame, Asteroids. (Does this mean Centipede and Pac Man can look for movies soon?)

'Twilight' Author Stephenie Meyer Producing, 'Napoleon Dynamite' Co-Writer Jerusha Hess Making Directorial Debut If you've been feeling a strange, nagging void in the part of your soul where you keep your love for costume drama, there's a reason for that: we've somehow gone four years without a major Jane Austen-centered movie. Sure, Bollywood flick "Aisha" borrowed the plot of "Emma," and "From Prada to Nada" was (very) loosely based on "Sense & Sensibility," but given the wealth of adaptations, and even biographical entries like "Becoming Jane" and "Miss Austen Regrets" that appeared in the middle of the last decade, it…...

The first of nine Frankenstein movies in the works is starting to be sewn together. Wake the Dead has cast The Sixth Sense actor Haley Joel Osment playing Victor Franklin, a college student fascinated with bringing people back from death. The Water Horse director Jay Russell will helm from a script he co-wrote. It's based on the graphic novel from Steven Niles and sets the Frankenstein story in the present day. Guns 'n' Roses guitarist Slash is producing. Production starts in the fall.
Here are the other Frankenstein projects in development:
* 20th Century Fox has hired Max Landis to write a script and has major directors like Paul Greengrass and David Yates under consideration;
* Indie Frankenstein's Army takes place at the end of World War II. Russian soldiers find Dr. Frankenstein's journal in a top secret Nazi laboratory. They use the notes to build an army by sewing together...
