I've watched this movie over and over. The plot, cast and storytelling method create a perfect combination to this movies.
Honestly, this is one of the best Thai films I've ever watched. There are so many outstanding points about it. I should have watched it many years ago when it was first released. The film can be considered a masterpiece.
First, the actors and actresses in this film can both act naturally like professional and can REALLY play music! This is a story about music college students and they all look like real music students. The male lead character can play the drum with such great skill (not to mention being handsome and charming) and the rest of the cast also act well and can play their own instruments naturally. So, this is great performance from the whole cast and I believe that it's due to the talent of the director, too.
Second, the movie presents small moments of ordinary life in such a beautiful and meaningful way. The classical song (Vivaldi Four Season) the band was performing seem to reflect the seasons of life that the characters are going through. The story is told with sincerity and heartfelt feelings. There are moments to smile, laugh and cry, just the way life is. It takes someone with sensitivity and gentle heart to present a coming of age story with such delicacy and memorable details.
Finally, the cinematography was great. Many scenes are filmed so beautifully, like pictures in postcard. The music is excellent. It seems to flow into every element in every scene and reflects the atmosphere, the deep emotion of the characters, and the message that the story wants to deliver. Two thumbs up for music in this film.
I highly recommend this film. It's a real piece of art. Not surprising that it has won many awards.
