Frank Tidman unexpectedly takes his teenage daughter Sanna on a trip. They need to talk to each other before it's too late, says Frank. This is the beginning of a journey that takes them back through the history of their family.
Frank and Sanna visit old aunt Lotten, who thinks she will inherit the wealthy uncle Paul or "Svinpaul". Sanna begins to sense some of the injustices that befell the family in Frank's childhood.

Frank and Sanna visit former county councilor "Svinpaul" at the service house on Frösön. He asks Sanna if she wants a scale. Frank agrees to smuggle in a "quart" for Paul, which Sanna delivers in a cake box.
Frank and Sanna visit "Döda fallet" and Frank tells about how pastor Vedin disappeared in the river Indalsälven. "Svinpaul" takes over Verner's estate and the estate is put under water.
Frank and Sanna visit Comrade Sundin, who has a few things to say about Verner. Frank tells Sanna about how he and Mirja got married in Boden, and Sanna gets a nice present from her godfathers.
Frank tells about the wedding in Boden and how Sanna is born and has four godfathers. Sanna visits Paul a second time and receives an envelope from him which turns out to contain his will.
