Cash Out opens with Mason Goddard and his crew stealing an outrageously expensive supercar as what he intends to be his last heist. Things don’t go as planned however as one of them, his girlfriend Amelia no less, is an undercover FBI agent. He barely escapes, and since he was already planning to retire, takes it one step further, he fakes his death and drops out of sight.
Three months later, his brother Shawn drops by trying to interest him in coming out of retirement for one more job. That doesn’t work, but when another member of the crew, Link calls he’s packing and on his way to the airport.
The next thing we know, Mason and Shawn are kidnapping a bank manager and the plan is in motion.

The 23rd edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival, kicked off Friday night with a sold-out screening of Dogman, the canine-focused revenge thriller by the French veteran Luc Besson, with Dogman co-star Jojo T. Gibbs in attendance.
Some 3,500 viewers backed Unirii Square in Cluj-Napoca for the start of the 11-day festival, which runs through June 24. The biggest film extravaganza in Romania, the festival is one of the premier events on the Eastern European industry calendar, with more than 200 films, exhibitions, concerts, talks and special events scheduled, and around 1,000 industry professionals expected.
Alongside Jojo T. Gibbs, most recently seen in Alex Garland’s Civil War, the TIFF guest list this year includes Italian filmmaker Daniele Luchetti (The Yes Man), who will be honored with the festival’s special award for contribution to world cinema; and Romanian film and theater legend Catrinel Dumitrescu (Aurora), who will receive the excellence award at the closing gala on June 22nd.

“Last night we said farewell to Paul Reubens,” a statement on the official Pee-wee Herman Facebook page this afternoon begins, announcing the passing of the beloved performer.
The statement continues, “Paul bravely and privately fought cancer for years with his trademark tenacity and wit. A gifted and prolific talent, he will forever live in the comedy pantheon and in our hearts as a treasured friend and man of remarkable character and generosity of spirit.”
An actor, comedian, writer and producer, Paul Reubens is best known for playing the character Pee-wee Herman, which began with a live stage show titled “The Pee-wee Herman Show” in the early 1980s. The popularity of the show led to the Tim Burton-directed feature film Pee-wee’s Big Adventure in 1985, which spawned a follow-up movie (Big Top Pee-wee in 1988) as well as the Saturday morning TV show “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” from 1986 through 1990. One of The Monkees’ songs was inspired by The Beatles’ “Yesterday.” Another one of The Monkees’ songs was inspired by The Beatles’ “Day Tripper.” The latter song has a classic opening guitar riff. The Beatles | Fiona Adams / Contributor
The Beatles‘ songs and The Monkees’ songs often get compared to one another. Some Monkees songs have an awesome Beatles vibe. For example, one Prefab Four tune was consciously inspired by “Yesterday.”
4. ‘Let’s Dance On’
“Let’s Dance On” is a great dance song. It has a bit of a resemblance to The Beatles’ version of “Twist and Shout.” Regardless, “Let’s Dance On” is one of the best tunes from The Monkees’ self-titled album. “Let’s Dance On” probably could have been a hit single but, alas, it languishes in obscurity. Hopefully, a new movie or show will make “Let’s Dance On” famous.

Before I start this review, I feel like I should go ahead and just admit a few things. One, I am a ridiculously huge fan of David Arquette and his work, which includes his performances in the Scream series to Ready to Rumble to his directorial effort on The Tripper and everything in between. And two, I’m one of the few people out there who was actually excited when he was working in WCW. With that in mind, I was already totally and completely on board for You Cannot Kill David Arquette before I even saw a single minute of footage. But now that I have had the opportunity to check out this all-encompassing project from directors David Darg and Price James, You Cannot Kill David Arquette quickly has become not only my favorite documentary of 2020, but one of my favorite films, regardless of category, of the year as well.

The death of Wes Craven has, unsurprisingly, seen fans and former collaborators coming out with glowing tributes to the creator of Last House On The Left, The Hills Have Eyes and A Nightmare On Elm Street. One recurring point has been to praise how Craven loved being perceived as a “Master of Horror”.
With the exception of 1999’s Music Of The Heart, Craven continued working almost entirely within the genre where he made his name; content for four decades in being known simply for scaring people silly.
Craven enjoyed his reputation as a purveyor of the dark and disturbing and, equally, enjoyed sending it up. The result of this was a side career that involved knowing cameos both in his own films and those of others – jokey fan pleasing appearances that will help ensure he remains a recognisable horror icon as much as those he created.

Throughout the month of December, we will be highlighting a film a day that has some tie into the holiday somehow. Some titles will be obvious, others won’t be. Some films will be good and, again, others won’t be. However, we think all titles are worth your time whether to give you chills inside your home or to make you drink more eggnog until you puke laughing.

Music festivals have never appealed to me. Especially the ones that involve camping in the dead of summer. The bands that are booked for festivals either don’t register or elicit a chuckle. Being around hundreds to thousands of people for that long sounds like one of the ten Chambers of Hell not mentioned in Big Trouble in Little China. Not to mention chronic swamp ass for days.

Horror filmmakers around the world can still submit their projects for the Screamfest Film Festival 2014 program, which is taking place in Los Angeles October 14-23. The deadline for submissions is August 1, 2014.
Screamfest is the largest and longest running horror film festival in the United States. It has been celebrating the genre for over a decade, and the festival has grown significantly since its 2001 debut. Executives from major film companies and distributors in Los Angeles regularly attend the festival looking for acquisitions.
“Screamfest draws the best and the brightest in the ever-growing horror genre market,” says Rachel Belofsky, Founder, Screamfest. “We’re so excited to screen this year’s submissions and are looking forward to discovering the next big hit in horror.”
The festival’s biggest success story is the discovery of Paranormal Activity. It premiered at Screamfest, was subsequently acquired by Paramount, and has since gone on to five sequels.

Following on from his original horror flick The Aggression Scale, which was undoubtedly a hit with a lot of horror fans, director Steven C. Miller tackled a quasi-remake of the controversial 1984 killer-Claus film Silent Night, Deadly Night. Why quasi-remake? Well Silent Night takes the basic theme of that film (and by extension that of the classic Tales From the Crypt story “And All Through the House”), along with one or two of it’s most famous set-pieces and crafts an all-new tale of a killer Santa Claus picking off citizens of a small American town on Christmas Eve – and that’s the plot in a nutshell. No more, no less.

Jason Mewes has been on the scene for a long time. It's hard to believe it was nearly 20 years ago that we first got a look at Jay and Silent Bob in the classic comedy Clerks. Dread Central recently had the chance to talk with this veteran actor about his new horror/comedy Silent But Deadly.
Mewes started by giving us a brief overview on the film. "It's about a dude who was misunderstood because he's not the smartest guy around and he sort of just loses his cool," Mewes said. "Also he loses his best friend. I won't give that away right now, but he loses his best friend, his only friend, and he loses it upon losing his friend and being mistreated and goes on a sort of killing spree. I know that doesn't make it unique, but…I never want to give away too much…when he's going around killing,...

One of the things I love so much about the horror genre is just how many sub-sections there are to it. I mean, if you were so inclined or just in the mood, you could focus your movie viewing leisure time specifically to the supernatural, or to zombies, or perhaps werewolves & vampires, or monsters (oh my)! But for me, I personally like to get seasonal with my horror movies. And so with summer officially upon us, this is the time of year I break out all of my favorite (and obscure) summer slasher horror! We figured we’d give you 6 recommendations so you could get into the summer slasher spirit as well; some of which are well known, some obscure and some recent ones that just warrant another look in the off chance you missed ‘em upon their initial release. The 'Friday The 13th' films are a given,...

[This week’s "Retro Active" pick is inspired by the history-rewriting presidential actioner Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.]
Political satire is nothing new to the horror genre, and on more than a few occasions—for example, William Lustig and Larry Cohen's Uncle Sam, or Joe Dante's Masters of Horror episode "Homecoming"—it's managed to find a suitable equilibrium with nasty carnage. Such a balance, alas, is nowhere to be found in The Tripper, the feature directorial debut of actor David Arquette, about a bunch of twentysomething friends who find themselves coping with all manner of clichéd slasher-madness circumstances, none more deadly than being pursued by an axe-wielding maniac in a Ronald Reagan mask. If you’re immediately wondering whether the Gipper—who's stalking victims at a drugged-out hippie-dippie Free Love music festival at Redwoods National Forest—eventually finds a way to carve "Just Say No" into his victims’ bodies, you're already one step ahead of this leaden effort. With Steven C. Miller’s slasher Santa flick Silent Night having wrapped last month in Winnipeg, we chatted with the director regarding the feature, as we also did with makeup guru Vincent Guastini, both of whom gave us the lowdown on the FX-heavy flick, its slated release date, and more.
“We shot it in seventeen days,” Miller, whose feature The Aggression Scale released earlier this week to video via Anchor Bay, told us of Silent Night, which stars veteran actor Malcolm McDowell, Jaime King (Sin City), Jamie Kennedy (Scream), Brendan Fehr (Final Destination), Lisa Marie (Sleepy Hollow), Donal Logue (Shark Night 3D) and Ellen Wong and serves as a loose remake of Charles E. Sellier, Jr.’s controversial 1984 slasher film Silent Night, Deadly Night. The originator revolved around an unhinged teenager who embarks on an axe murder spree while dressed as Saint Nick.

Thanks to a string of award-winning short films, Devi Snively has become something of a darling on the film-fest circuit, garnering a reputation as a filmmaker's filmmaker. While this underground renown hasn't translated to aboveground fame for the auteur, this might soon change thanks to the April 10 release of Snively's first feature, Trippin', in a deluxe two-disc set that also collects all of her celebrated shorts. And if that doesn't do it, her innovative upcoming web series Martini Mom & Devil Spawn likely will.
I recently caught up with the garrulous Ms. Snively for a wide-ranging discussion that covered everything from storytelling and Spider-Man to Oklahoma and the exact location of madness.

Actor Abraham Benrubi takes the lead in the David Arquette helmed horror effort 'Glutton'. The new psychological thriller which revolves around a 1200-pound man (played by Benrubi) will be Arquette's second go at directing within the genre following his 2006 serial killer effort 'The Tripper'. Over the weekend the new movie received a couple of interesting cast additions in the form of David's sister Patricia Arquette and rising star Kacey Barnfield ('Jabberwocky'). This won't be the first time David has directed his sister having helmed a few episodes of Patricia's hit series 'Medium' in the past. Kacey (below), star of 'Lake Placid 3' and 'Resident Evil: Afterlife', will be joining the project when the production begins shooting next month in Canada....

When most people think of the career of David Arquette, they perceive an often borderline Film/TV career to which he brings a certain nerdy handsome awkwardness, most notably in Eight Legged Freaks and Scream. More usually, however, they will associate him with Courteney Cox- to whom he is still married despite separation last year- and a bizarre infrequent stints as a “pro” wrestler for the WCW, where his ill-judged title reign is often seen as one of the key to that company’s demise.
What fewer will know is that he has a not inconsiderable series of directorial credits to his name and is now about to film his first ever 3D feature film, titled Glutton.
Arquette’s previous directorial credits include several episodes of CSI Miami and Medium, as well as a co-written sole feature film called The Tripper; a slightly trashy horror oddity in which a...

Arquette Returning To Directing With Glutton
Troubled actor David Arquette is throwing himself back into work after rehab, signing on to direct a new 3D thriller.
The troubled star has put his health before his career in recent months, following his separation from wife Courteney Cox last year, and checked into rehab in January to conquer an alcohol addiction.
His personal problems forced him to quit as creative director of Hollywood vaudeville show Beacher's Madhouse earlier this year, but Arquette is now ready to return to the spotlight.
And, after he completed promotional commitments for the fourth Scream movie, in which he stars, he'll step behind the camera to direct psychological thriller Glutton.
Producer Stan Spry says, "David is the perfect person to direct Glutton. He brings invaluable assets to the project, including his visual style, creative flair and ability to relate to the cast."
Arquette, who previously directed horror film The Tripper and various TV shows, will also executive produce the project through his company Coquette Productions, reports trade paper Daily Variety.
Work on Glutton is expected to begin in Canada in July.

David Arquette will be sticking with scares once the Scream 4 dust settles, directing the psychological thriller Glutton. There's not much detail in Variety's announcement, other than that the film will be "in the vein of Misery" and be shot, of course, in 3D. Does a film in the vein of Misery need to be in 3D? If someone's tied to a bed and getting their ankles broken with a hammer, we're not sure we want to be that close to the action.Anyone who saw Arquette's previous directorial outing, the scurrilous horror The Tripper - about rock-festival hippies being stalked and slashed by, to all intents and purposes, Ronald Reagan - might suspect that Glutton is likely to have its tongue firmly in its cheek. He's since made a 3D short called The Butler's In Love. Maybe that was an exercise to get his head round the technology.We'll...

David Arquette has always been a horror genre guy, from appearing in the Scream franchise and Eight Legged Freaks, to directing his own slasher flick, The Tripper. With that in mind it's not surprising to hear that Arquette has signed on to even more genre fare.
Veriety is reporting that Arquette will get behind the camera again for the upcoming 3D horror flick, Glutton. No plot crunch is available as of yet, but Kenny Yakkel (Dead Air) wrote the script, which is described as being in the vein of Misery. Stan Spry and Cameron Larson are producing along with R. Scott Reid, Steve Ecclesine and Lawreen Yakkel, while Arquette will exec produce through his Coquette Prods. banner.
Glutton is scheduled to begin production in Canada this July. We'll bring you more as we have it.

Fresh off his return to our favorite genre in Scream 4, David Arquette is getting ready for another flick that's right up our alley -- this time as a director. While sifting through Youtube trailers the other day, we came across what appears to be a German release of the movie trailer for the upcoming Mother's Day Remake. After doing some research around the web, we found that indeed it is a promotional trailer for the Darren Lynn Bousman's film, but not the "official" trailer which should be releasing very soon.
Short Synopsis:
"The sadistic members of a villainous family return to their childhood home to terrorize the new home owners and their guests."
The movie is slated for an opening date of April 1st via LightTower Entertainment and Gigapix Releasing. The film stars veteran actress Rebecca De Mornay (The Hand That Rocks the Cradle), Jaime King (They Wait, The Tripper), Briana Evigan (Sorority Row, Burning Bright), Shawn Ashmore (The Ruins, Frozen), Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood) Lyriq Bent (Saw II, III and IV), Alexa Vega (Repo! I guess that’s why we’re being subjected to so many remakes & reboots instead of new stuff. Darren Lynn Bousman’s (Saw II, III, IV) version of the 1980 Kaufman’s classic stars everyone’s favorite psycho chick with mom issues from the 90’s Rebecca De Mornay (The Hand That Rocks The Cradle) as, you guessed it, the psycho mother to three fugitives who come back home to the family home to hide out. Problem is, it’s no longer their house and the new occupants are in for a night of pure torture and terror. The film also stars Jaime King (My Bloody Valentine, Fanboys, The Tripper, Sin City), Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood), Briana Evigan (Sorority Row, Step Up 2), Alexa Vega (Repo! The Genetic Opera), Shawn Ashmore (Frozen, Hatchet II, The Ruins), Matt O’Leary (Sorority Row, American Bully, Live Free or Die Hard, Frailty), Lyriq Bent (Saw II,...

Laid to Rest was an underground hit amongst horror fans that captured everything that is great about the slasher movie genre and was also a damn good film in its own right. So I was pleased to report the news when a sequel, ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2, was announced earlier this year – and I’m even more pleased to present this brand new teaser clip from the film!
ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2 picks up three months after we last left ChromeSkull (Principe) at the end of the original Laid to Rest. Tommy (Dekker), who’s struggling to come to terms with his encounter with the masked killer, has now gone missing courtesy of the maniacal Preston (Green), a mysterious player in the sequel with a sinister connection to ChromeSkull. Meanwhile, our killer has set his sights on a new girl, Jess (Michaels), and after the young girl disappears, Detective King...

In light of the news we received earlier today that Michael Biehn is flexing his director muscle on another project, it's not a huge surprise that he's stepped away from ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2. Who's replacing him? None other than Welsh actor Owain Yeoman.
Yeoman is best known to TV watchers from his roles in "The Mentalist", "Kitchen Confidential", and "The Nine". He's also a classically trained actor who graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London in 2003.
Director Rob Hall penned the Laid to Rest 2 script with producing partner Kevin Bocarde. Hall, Bocarde and Chang Tseng are producing the film under their Dry County Entertainment banner.

David Arquette seemed to enjoy his time far from estranged wife Courteney Cox. The 39-year-old actor, who announced his split from the "Friends" star in early October, was photographed having a wild night at Hollywood's Roosevelt Hotel on Friday, November 5, Radar Online reported.
One eyewitness told the site that David "and a group of female friends rented a cabana at the Roosevelt pool." The onlooker went on saying that during the wild pool party, the Muff of "The Tripper" was "talking, laughing and repeatedly lighting the cigarettes of a redhead in the group."
Later on, accompanied by his friends, David went to the DJ table to dance and he "started to get extremely animated." The eyewitness said, "He started to hop from pool chair to pool chair while playing air guitar to 'Sweet Child of Mine.' One jump too many and David jumped on the next chair which was where I was sitting.

They’re kaput romantically, but Courteney Cox and David Arquette are still making beautiful business music together…for now!
Courteney Cox,46, and David Arquette,39, shocked Hollywood by announcing their trial separation Oct. 11, but when it comes to their work, that’s a union that will be lasting.

We’re thrilled to hear that! Although ratings have been shaky for the ABC comedy, with a 23 percent drop-off even when best friend Jennifer Aniston guest-starred in September, Cougar Town has become a staple to the Wednesday night comedy line up.
Courteney and David started the company in 2004, the same year Courteney gave birth to their daughter Coco, after producing home decorating TV show, Mix It Up. Other Coquette productions include 2007 horror flick The Tripper,...

One of my favorite new gen slasher movies is writer/director Robert Hall's Laid to Rest and the sequel finally starts principal photography on November 1st. Last year the direct to DVD horror movie Laid To Rest was a surprise hit among horror fans everywhere, and like any successful horror film a sequel is on the way… From the official press release:

Now Hall and the rest of the team behind the original are getting ready to take their modern slasher franchise to a boiling point. ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2 will begin principal photography on November 1st in Los Angeles.
