In a new episode, Ghosts reveals another way the titular spirits can have a little fun. They can always make up rumors to create a little needed drama in their afterlife. One ghost in particular just might make themselves the perfect star of such gossip.
Even Ghosts Have An Ear For Gossip
In one clip for the upcoming episode, “The Work Retreat,” two of the ghosts, Hetty and Sass, try to find ways to enjoy themselves while trapped in a seemingly “endless Purgatory.” As Hetty enters the scene, Sass notes he’s been keeping an eye on the branch at the estate, to see if it will fall. However, he admits he’s been waiting 23 years.
Hetty and Sasappis, or “Sass,” decide that a little gossip will spice up their afterlife, so they agree to make up a rumor. The only issue is just who should they start a rumor about.

Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
King of the Ants
While Stuart Gordon cemented himself as a master of horror with early works like Re-Animator and From Beyond, his later output is also worthy of exploration. 2003’s King of the Ants kicked off a trio of intense thrillers (alongside Edmond and Stuck) that would end up being Gordon’s final features. It was also one of the first productions from The Asylum, who would go on to create Sharknado, Z Nation, and Black Summer.

Anyone who knows me would say my taste runs ever so slightly counter to the popular opinion but up top I wanted to shout out some big titles that I appreciate but didn’t quite make my favorites list. Oftentimes it feels like the days of true-blue horror icons are behind us, but Gerard Johnstone and Akela Cooper’s M3GAN was a veritable hoot that gave us an instantly iconic tiny terror in tights who more than lived up to the memes and showed everyone that hasn’t quite come around yet on HBO’s Girls just how #mother Allison Williams is. Also, that Skatt Brothers “Walk the Night” needle drop took up residence in my head last January and has not left. Talk to Me was one of the more intense in-theater experiences I had this year, and though it lost something the more I sat with it, what...

“We’re explorers, not fake ghost hunters” Marcus tells Jessie at the beginning of Hell’s Half Acre. And he means it, he’s not interested in looking for ghosts in an allegedly haunted prison. Even if some ghost hunting might make his floundering urban exploration YouTube channel the money needed to help save his mother’s house, where he still lives, from foreclosure.
He is willing to do one of his usual videos in the prison, however. So he, Jesse, Dan, Jose (Omar Vega Jr.; Chicago P.D.), and the new addition to the team Cassie make plans to explore Rockland Heights Prison. But he’s going to have to deal with the supernatural whether he likes it or not.

In February 2020, Folxlore bursts onto the podcast scene in sensational fashion winning three Audio Verse Awards including Best New Storytelling Production, and featuring as one of only two independent fiction podcasts in The Atlantic’s 50 Best Podcasts of the year. Three years on and the puzzlebox of audio horror by queers, for queers launched its final season on March 5th 2023 with Episode 1, “Stuck”.
“‘Stuck’ is a poetic exploration of my own anxieties around being an immigrant. The pressure of having to prove your worth, your permanency, is deeply unsettling, especially as a queer, trans human. Juniper metaphorically and physically feels the walls closing in, because I wanted to show the claustrophobia and violence that borders create in our lives.” - Bibi June, producer on Folxlore and writer of ‘Stuck’

Amazon Prime Video has acquired the North American and Latin American rights to Anthony Nardolillo’s “7th & Union,” starring Mexican actor/comedian Omar Chaparro. Grandave Intl. is handling world sales, and will be presenting the movie to buyers at the virtual European Film Market.
“7th & Union” is the story of an unlikely ally, a broken promise and an improbable chance that inspires two down-and-out men from opposite sides of the track to find a way to use their old passions to pursue their dream of connecting with their family and providing an opportunity for a brighter future.
The movie features Edy Ganem (“Devious Maids”), Gregg Daniel (“Truth Or Dare”) and Erinn Westbrook.
The deal was brokered by Tamara Nagahiro of Grandave Intl. for the production company, Broken English Productions. “We are thrilled to have Amazon as a partner for ‘7th & Union’ in North and Latin Americas and are looking forward...

Philly rapper Tierra Whack has released a new song, “Dora,” alongside a charmingly weird animated video.
“Dora” boasts a decisively playful quality, with a beat centered around burbling synths and a simple yet serene vocal loop. Whack both matches this tenor and toys with it as she bends and twists her voice, peeling off bars like, “Shining like a diamond, fine dining/Forty thousand, turn that shit to fifty thousand/Bitch I’m wilding, stranded on an island/Money piling, Rolex cause I put that time in.”

Stuck in Neutral: Cohn Cooks Up Sensitive (and Hilarious) Fast Food Tragedy
Andrew Cohn delivers a heart-wrenching ode to the working class, missed connections and guilt. In a superb of-the-moment character study, Richard Jenkins is perfect as longtime fast-food worker Stanley, the quintessential put-upon everyman (even his character’s laugh sounds desperate); promising newcomer Shane Paul McGhie plays Jevon, an ex-con father and new employee whom Stanley has to train. For those expecting a cheerful odd couple dramedy, think again: while The Last Shift dishes plenty of unexpected laughter, it’s no escapist fantasy; instead, Cohn (a documentary filmmaker) has the guts to examine economic and racial bias, contradictions and chaos included.…...

Budding social media star Enya Umanzor has signed with A3 Artists Agency for representation in all areas.
The Honduran, Cuban, and Irish influencer was raised in North Miami, and launched her social career on Vine, having amassed 500,000 followers before the Twitter-owned micro video platform shuttered. Subsequently, Umanzor ported over to YouTube, where she has collected roughly 994,000 subscribers. Her content comprises makeup rants, comedic satire, music, and day-in-the-life vlogs.
A3 will support Umanor as she continues to pursue an acting career, having nabbed the leading role in the Brat series, Stuck, whose pilot nabbed 1 million views on YouTube, following a defiant high school student who finds herself repeating the same day over and over again. Umanzor also stars in Field Trip (below) -- a surreal, comedic YouTube series that she wrote, produced, and stars in for youth entertainment company Kyra TV.

Disney Plus subscribers may have just spent their weekend working their way through all the new content that arrived on the streaming service last Friday, so let’s look ahead to what’s headed to the site at the end of this week. It’s an even larger haul than the last one, comprising 18 movies and TV shows. There’s a little bit of everything coming this Friday, too, including a ton of National Geographic content, some new stuff for the children and a quartet of major movies – two previously released big hits and two Disney + Originals.
As part of the site’s Summer Movie Nights season, Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp lands on Friday. With the addition of this 2018 sequel starring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly, that leaves just three McU films that are not on D+ – The Incredible Hulk and the two Spider-Man flicks.

Nicole Dade and Leah Purcell.
As a development producer, writer, script editor and assessor, Nicole Dade is pondering the future of storytelling once the pandemic has passed.
Among the questions she is mulling over: What stories do we want to tell when we have no idea what we or the world will look like?
How will stories resonate with the themes that the world is facing now? How can those themes be embedded in existing work or in creating new work? Is there still a place for feature length drama?
While she doesn’t pretend to have the answers, she is gratified to see Screen Australia and state agencies divert more funding for development.
“While there is opportunity, it is still extraordinarily competitive,” Dade, who spent four years as a development executive at Screen Australia, tells If. “It is a time to be bold and brave about the stories we now tell.

The nicest man I ever met in show business was also perhaps the most underrated movie director of his era. His name was Stuart Gordon, and if you know him at all you probably know him for his breakthrough horror film “Re-Animator” from 1985 — a cheeky, excessive, blackly comedic masterpiece of the ’80s horror renaissance loosely based on H. P. Lovecraft but mostly based on Stuart’s cheerful subversive streak.
“Re-Animator” is a kind of Frankenstein upgrade in the Grand Guignol manner, and the movie’s cultural imprint was large enough that it got mentioned in the Best Picture winner “American Beauty.” Lester, the mid-life agonistes character played by Kevin Spacey, has smoked a joint with a neighborhood kid and asks, “Did you ever see that movie where the body is walking around carrying its own head… and then the head goes down on that babe?”

IndieWire asked Larry Fessenden, actor/producer/filmmaker and founder of indie production outfit Glass Eye Pix to remember fellow filmmaker and long-time playwright Stuart Gordon, best known for his trademark horror offerings “Re-Animator,” “Dagon,” and “From Beyond.” On Tuesday, Gordon died at at age 72.
Like many horror fans of my generation, I saw “Re-Animator” in the theater on the big screen. It was a revelation, so bold and sassy and that Barbara Crampton, whew! The practical effects had such exuberance (talking severed head in a medical tray anyone?) you could sense his history in experimental theater by the way he staged gore gags. “Re-Animator” put filmmaker Stuart Gordon squarely in the company of iconic horror auteurs John Carpenter and George Romero, and it began his life-long affinity for H.P. Lovecraft adaptations. His follow-up film was another Lovecraft story, “From Beyond” and it did not disappoint. Gordon would go on to...

A scene from Gordon's cult hit Re-Animator
The horror community was in mourning today following news of the death of writer and director Stuart Gordon, who was much loved both for his work and as a person. He passed away last night at the age of 72, from unspecified causes.
Gordon was best known for the anarchic horror romp Re-Animator, part of a series of works loosely based on the tales of Hp Lovecraft which also included From Beyond and Dagon. He enjoyed the works of Edgar Allan Poe, adapting The Pit and the Pendulum, and strayed into science fiction with cult favourite Robot Jox. He was known for his exuberant approach to special effects, layering on the gore but always maintaining a sense of playfulness.

Beyond his genre work, Gordon explored film noir, working with David Mamet on Edmond and breaking into the mainstream with the thriller Stuck.

"We're just trying to get to where we're going..." Eammon Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie musical film titled Stuck, which originally premiered at a few smaller film festivals back in 2017. Based on a play by Riley Thomas, the film is about six strangers who get stuck on a New York City subway together and change each others lives in unexpected ways. This is definitely a theater concept, but adapted for the big screen and brought to life with a few vibrant and uplifting performances. This looks charming and inspiring, in all the ways Broadway can be. Starring Giancarlo Esposito (seriously singing his heart out), plus Amy Madigan, Ashtanti, Omar Chaparro, Arden Cho, & Gerard Canonico. Don't know why it has taken almost two years for this to be released, it's looks wonderful. Who doesn't love a good musical? Check it out. Here's the first official trailer (+ new poster) for Michael Berry's Stuck,...

Not many artists get to experience as many pop lives as Teddy Geiger. She was a teen idol by 16, with a mushy soft-rock hit, “For You I Will (Confidence),” on her hands. At 19, she starred as the romantic lead opposite future Oscar winner Emma Stone in the comedy The Rocker. After an early retirement at 21, she took a few steps back out of the spotlight and began writing songs for and with other artists, most famously becoming one of the names behind Shawn Mendes’ biggest hits (“Stitches,” “Treat You Better”).

Back in June, the 2017 Los Angeles Film Festival took over Southern California, hosting screenings at numerous locations and featuring numerous genre films that horror and sci-fi fans should definitely keep on their radars in the coming months. Here are my thoughts on three of the movies that I had the opportunity to watch at the festival:
Replace: As far genre feature film debuts go, co-writer/director Norbert Keil has a lot to be proud of with Replace, a stunning and beautifully executed cinematic mystery that’s part body horror/part psychological thriller. Something of a hallucinatory fever dream at times, Keil has crafted an intriguing and chilling portrait of just how far some folks are willing to go in the name of vanity, and the whole affair is anchored by a trio of powerhouse performances by Rebecca Forsythe, Barbara Crampton, and Lucie Aron.

Not all horror movies have ghosts or zombies or monsters or masked murderers hacking up teenagers. Sometimes, horror movies just find regular people in terrible circumstances and watch as things heat up, like ants put under a magnifying glass in the sun. That’s the case in Body, the feature debut from the writing/directing team of Dan Berk and Robert Olsen and a solid four character thriller and a welcome surprise this year.
Three friends, Holly (Helen Rogers), Mel (Lauren Molina) and Cali (Alexandra Turshen) are hanging out on Christmas Eve. They’ve eaten too much, they’ve smoked a little weed and now they’ve gotten bored. Cali suggests they go over to her rich uncle’s house, which is empty for the holidays. They head over and drink some more and goof around a little. Then a man (Larry Fessenden) shows up and surprises them. There is an accident.
