Rose's Last Summer

Veteran Hollywood actress Mary Astor(best known from "The Maltese Falcon"(1941) portrays former Hollywood actress Rose French, who doesn't like getting old, and desperately wants to mount a comeback. It seems that her wish was abruptly cut short by her apparent death of heart failure, but when both her male friend and ex-husband investigate the home of the family who found her, discover that not all is as it seems, and that the elderly, bed-ridden mother looks strangely like an older Rose... Complex mystery is reasonably satisfying, with some good story turns, even though a key plot point is far too obvious, and ending a bit abrupt and trite.
