Of Meissen Men

Honor Blackman joins the cast. She plays widowed vet Veronica Barton who is selling her late husband's Meissen porcelain pieces.

Both Simon and Oliver try to win her over by pretending to be private collectors. Oliver claims to be a part time brain surgeon. Simon makes out to be a stockbroker.

They take their pets to see Veronica for made up ailments and later they both end up at dinner together.

Their children meanwhile admit that Lyn is not pregnant, so Simon and Oliver now see no need for a wedding.

Johnnie Mortimer was an experienced comedy writer. Even after a bright opening episode, there are consistent laughs in the second episode with several sharp lines.

Even though you guess what might happen next in this sitcom of one-upmanship. Windsor Davies and Donald Sinden just get that extra mileage out of the material.
