      In the 1969 Love, American Style segment, "Love and the Banned Book", Elizabeth Ashley (Penny Dunbar) and Burt Reynolds (Stanley Dunbar) played husband and wife. More than 20 years later, in 1990, they began working together again on the successful CBS comedy series, Evening Shade (1990), in which they played an adversarial mother-in-law and son-in-law (Freida Evans and Wood Newton).
