    The House Always Wins

    There is some sharp dialogue but it is a so-so story. There is even a brief cameo from Jack Benny who brought some nickels to Dante's Inferno casino to gamble.

    Although the ease as to how Willie Dante (Dick Powell) gives guests access to his gambling back room. You wonder why he has never been raided by the police by now.

    In this instalment, Dante sees an old love Lucy (Jean Willes) now married to another man. They have visited Dante's Inferno with another couple but Lucy tells him that the men plan to rob the casino.

    Dante has no option but to call his nemesis, the cops. Who laugh at the preposterous idea that Dante wants their help.

    The last laugh belongs to an elderly Scots gambler.

    It is all a bit ridiculous but Jack Benny manages to steal his scenes.
