The first question from TV journalists at today’s TCA panel on NBC’s new series, Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector, was, well, what’s up with that title?

The series, which made its debut Friday, is based on Jeffrey Deaver’s Bone Collector book series. The first book in that series was also the basis of the 1999 feature film The Bone Collector starring Denzel Washington as quadriplegic Detective Lincoln Rhymes.

The new TV series was first announced as Lincoln, then acquired the lengthy new title, which does not exactly lend itself to headlines and social media. However, the show’s executive producers pointed out that people tended to confuse the name first with the President, second with the car. NBC is developing a series adaptation of the 1980s film “St. Elmo’s Fire.”

The series is described as a modern adaptation of the film that showcases a group of close friends struggling with career, commitment and the responsibilities of adulthood. Released in 1985, the film starred many members of the so-called Brat Pack, including Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, Judd Nelson, Rob Lowe, and Demi Moore. Joel Schumacher directed and co-wrote the script with Carl Kurlander.

Josh Berman is attached to write and executive produce, with Chris King also executive producing. Sony Pictures Television and Osprey Productions will produce. Berman most recently co-created the ABC series “Notorious” and previously created the series “Drop Dead Diva,” “Vanished,” and “Killer Instinct.” He also co-created “The Mob Doctor.” His other credits include “CSI,” “Bones,” and “The Blacklist.”

Tenderfoot TV, the company behind the hit Atlanta Monster and Up and Vanished podcasts, is looking to take advantage of the boom in the audio genre and is plotting a slew of music and sports-set true crime podcasts as well as IP that can be translated for television.

The company, which is run by Donald Albright and Payne Lindsey, has had more than 380M downloads for its podcasts and co-produced a TV adaptation of Up and Vanished for Oxygen with Ben Silverman’s Propagate Content. Its latest podcast, To Live and Die in La with The Dirt author and Rolling Stone writer Neil Strauss, is set to conclude May 16.

Exclusive: All3Media’s digital unit Little Dot Studios is looking to develop long-form documentaries from its online channel Real Stories with the hire of Paul Woolf, co-creator of Netflix’s Amazing Interiors.

Woolf joins the business as Head of U.S. Unscripted Development and will be based on the East Coast. He joins from British producer Barcroft Productions, where he was Head of Development and co-created the Netflix uncripted property show.

Real Stories, which generates 1 million views a day, is available via YouTube, Facebook Watch, Amazon and Roku and hosts more than 700 documentaries. "American Crime," premiering March 5 on ABC, is being touted as an innovative series for spending an entire season focusing on a single murder case, taking a wide-ranging look at the victims, the accused, and their extended families as a way of taking a broader look at the dynamics of a whole community. Of course, this isn't the first time it's been tried, but it could mark the first time that the approach actually works on network TV.

"American Crime" has secured a high-powered cast, including Timothy Hutton and Felicity Huffman. Nonetheless, after this season is over, the show will move on to a new case next year, with a new cast -- should the show prove a success and earn a renewal.

Under the new, three-year pact, Berman continues as executive producer and showrunner of Sony TV’s Lifetime series Dead Drop Diva. He created the dramedy, now in its sixth and final season, under his first overall pact at the studio. He also will continue to develop projects for network and cable. Berman began his career as a junior writer on the first season of CBS’ CSI. He remained on the long-running procedural for six years, rising to executive producer. He went on to create the Fox drama Vanished and spent four years on the network’s veteran procedural Bones. ABC’s Revenge is adding an intriguing new character: A stripper with a torrid past.

Adventureland actress Margarita Levieva has landed the recurring role, which gets underway in the seventh episode of the season. She’ll play Amanda, a temptress who resembles a less-polished version of the show’s out-for-retribution heroine Emily Thorne (Emily Van Camp). Levieva previously starred in the Fox series Vanished and was named one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in New York.

Thanks to his star-making role on Queer As Folk, actor Gale Harold knows a thing or two about playing the bad boy. Just don’t tell him that.

The drama is expected to focus on a female FBI employee who is partnered with a homicide detective as part of a scheme to improve the relationship between the Bureau and the police. However, the pair used to be engaged and have not been in contact since their wedding day, when the detective revealed that he is gay. THR’s Live Feed is reporting that ABC’s new police procedural drama Poe, which features Edgar Allan Poe as it’s detective protagonist and follows the legendary horror writer as he uses unconventional methods to investigate dark mysteries in 1840’s Boston, has got three new cast members – including its lead!

Christopher Egan (Kings, Vanished) will play the part of Poe and he’ll be joined by Tabrett Bethell (Legend of the Seeker) and Kevin McNally, who interestingly appears in The Raven which stars John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe. The pilot comes from Kyle Xy scribe Chris Hollier and is directed by Alex Graves. Shooting begins on March 14th in Toronto.

Two Aussie actors and a Brit have joined the previously announced Leslie Odom, Jr., in ABC's "Poe", which has Alex Graves handling the directorial reins for its first episode.

Penned by Chris Hollier for Warner Bros. TV and Lin Pictures, "Poe" is a new crime procedural TV series that will follow Edgar Allan Poe, the world's very first detective, as he uses unconventional methods to investigate dark mysteries in 1840s Boston.

Per The Hollywood Reporter's Live Feed the Aussies are Tabrett Bethell (pictured below, left), whose previous TV credits include "Legend of the Seeker", as Sarah and Christopher Egan (pictured below, right), who appeared in "Kings", "Vanished", and "Everwood" and will play the part of Poe. They'll be accompanied by the UK's Kevin McNally (who coincidentally appears in The Raven with John Cusack as Poe), who portrays Kyle Kilpatrick.

Syfy has sent out some video previews of next week's episode of Warehouse 13 for readers of CinemaSpy. Christopher Egan has a tough job in his new film "Letters to Juliet": convincing audiences that Amanda Seyfried's Sophie would dump her fiancé, played by international heartthrob Gael García Bernal, for Egan's character, the uptight Brit Charlie. "That was a little intimidating," Egan admits with a laugh. "I was wondering how they would make it convincing." In the film, Sophie is visiting Italy and comes across a wall where women leave letters to the teenage heroine of Shakespeare's tragedy. When she discovers a letter from 50 years ago, she is prompted to write the author, who shows up in the form of Claire, played by Vanessa Redgrave. Claire is accompanied by her stuffy but loving grandson Charlie (Egan), and the trio begins a road trip to find Claire's lost love. Egan began acting at a young age in his native Australia; he and his three brothers appeared in several commercials.

The cast and crew of steampunk web series Riese will be hosting a panel at the upcoming London McM Expo, the event's organisers have announced.

SyFy recently acquired the Us rights to the popular sci-fi fantasy series for syfy.com and potential TV development, following the channel's success with Sanctuary, another former web show.

Riese last month scooped Best Cinematography in a Web Series at the Streamys, the online Oscars.

It centres on a traveller called Riese who is hunted by religious assassins from a group called The Sect as she treks across the dying lands of Eleysia with her wolf Fenrir.

The London McM Expo panel will feature show creators Ryan Copple and Kaleena Kiff, as well as stars Christine Chantelain (Riese) and Sharon Taylor (Amara).

Christine has appeared recently in Fringe, Supernatural and Sanctuary, while Sharon plays Amelia Banks in Stargate Atlantis and Faora in Smallville.

Penelope Ann Miller, late of Fox's Vanished and a bunch of other stuff, is joining TNT's forthcoming midlife crisis drama Men of a Certain Age as the ex-wife of Ray Romano's neurotic party-supply store owner, sources confirm to me exclusively. Miller is committed to appearing in at least five episodes of Men, which bows in December and stars Andre Braugher, Scott Bakula, and Romano as a group of friends getting old approaching midlife together.

An aspiring New York actor named Chad Lindsey will be starring together with Mischa Barton on "The Beautiful Life: Tbl". On the CW show, which will be premiered on September 16, he will portray a photographer. However, there has been no word on which episodes Chad is going to appear.

Chad Lindsey has guest starred on several TV series, including "How I Met Your Mother", "Lovespring International", and "Vanished". Besides, in March the 33-year-old star was seen appearing in some Broadway plays, Radar Online reports.

"The Beautiful Life: Tbl" is drama series which centers on the life of a high-fashion model. She appears glamorous and sexy, but as every new model learns, there is a world of insecurity and cut-throat competition behind the beautiful facade. Mischa Barton, Corbin Bleu, Ben Hollingsworth, Ashley Madekwe, Elle MacPherson, and Sara Paxton have been appointed to star on the show.

With its October premiere date approaching, new info is starting to emerge about Stargate Universe, the Syfy channel's latest Stargate spinoff. Here's the official description of the show:

Sgu follows a band of soldiers, scientists and civilians, who must fend for themselves as they are forced through a Stargate when their hidden base comes under attack. The desperate survivors emerge aboard an ancient ship, which is locked on an unknown course and unable to return to Earth. 

Faced with meeting the most basic needs of food, water and air, the group must unlock the secrets of the ship's Stargate to survive.  The danger, adventure and hope they find on board the Destiny will reveal the heroes and villains among them.

Yes, it sounds a lot like Star Trek Voyager, but since I liked that series, I'm not complaining (yet).

Warehouse 13, the new Syfy series, is formulaic, but the paranormal-tinged adventure pulls it off with some crafty writing and clever casting.

It's a high-concept premise that borrows from such precursors as Friday the 13th: The Series, The X-Files and Eureka: in the rural reaches of South Dakota is a massive warehouse where all manner of strange and wonderful artifacts are safely stored, and the U.S. Secret Service is tasked with protecting them.

According to the man who head's up Warehouse 13, Artie Nielsen, these artifacts "channel a tangential energy. . . . Somehow, matter that is in here has just enough energy to move other matter."

For Artie, this energy is no different than gravity or magnetism, forces we live with but don't really comprehend.

Myka Bering and Pete Lattimer are two Secret Service agents who find themselves — to their chagrin — assigned to Warehouse 13, where things that can't be explained are locked up.

In July, Sci Fi Channel, which by then will be called by its new moniker, Syfy, debuts a new series, Warehouse 13. Starring Joanne Kelly (Vanished, Jeremiah), Eddie McClintock (Bones, Desperate Housewives), and Saul Rubinek (Frasier, Leverage), the paranormal themed show is set in South Dakota, where the U.S. government maintains a warehouse that houses “strange artifacts, mysterious relics, fantastical objects and supernatural souvenirs”.

Kelly and McClintock are two Secret Service agents who, after saving the life of a president, are transferred to the South Dakota facility, where they meet the caretaker, Artie Nielsen, played by Rubinek.

McClintock’s Pete Lattimer sees the assignment as a reward, but Kelly’s Myka Bering can’t help but feel like she’s being punished. Regardless, their new responsibility is to chase down new objects that belong in the warehouse.

Following on the heels of Stargate Sg-1 and Stargate Atlantis, the latest Stargate series — Stargate Universe, or Sgu — will include the franchise's first lesbian cast member: political attaché Camille Wray, played by veteran Chinese-American actress Ming-Na Wen (pictured, right).

The franchise began with the 1994 feature film Stargate, and has since spawned three live-action series, an animated series (Stargate Infinity), video games (Stargate Worlds), novels, and comics.

The Stargate universe is one in which soldiers and scientists from contemporary Earth interact with alien races possessing far superior technology via a top-secret Stargate (pictured below) that utilizes wormholes to quickly transport people and objects to cosmic locations far away.
