This version of Turn of the Screw has synchronizing problems. While the music and mannerisms of the actors seem to come from a drama, the story is actually supposed to be a ghost story. The opera format just does not work for TOTS.
James wrote a strange story, but Britten retold the story in the most unfitting of ways. I would definitely recommend watching a different version.
The movie does have one thing going for it. The setting is gorgeous and just like describes in the book. The Kubrick-esquire zoom outs are very well executed, they do the place justice.
HOWEVER, I still do not recommend the movie. At all.
