I was privileged to see this film at a closed showing last night in Århus which was the town chosen for the premiere, because it was also the town it was filmed in.
A lot was said about this film on beforehand, in independent circuits a lot of people chose to believe this would be a lame duck, a ship that would never sail, and I'm embarrassed to admit that after hearing this from certain people I started to believe in it, and with this prejudice on my mind I started to watch as the cinema dimmed its lights and the film started. My thought however had changed immensely as the film ended 90 minutes later and the credits started rolling.
I don't usually write comments here on IMDb, but in this case I truly wanna make an exception and salute the people behind this film, for believing in this project in spite of all the negative comments they have had to endure. This film actually turned out really great! Sure, it is not Von Trier in his hay-day but it was never intended that way either. It is made purely to entertain. The film is filled with punchlines and one-liners and the actors actually manage to pull them off and make them funny, the special effects crew have obviously been working overtime and also done a fantastic job. It is without a doubt the most action packed, brutal and at the same time hilarious shootout scene in Danish film history that closes the film. It keeps surprising you and several occasions I actually managed to forget I was watching a film and surrendered to it. The audience laughed and cheered and from what I could see, they all enjoyed themselves.
Right now the IMDb credit is quite low, mysterious to me as the film at the time of me writing this ran for the first time ever less than 24 hours ago. I personally think it deserves a lot higher than it's current rating after I have actually seen it, so I'm gonna give it a tad higher than I probably would have done normally :-) Thumbs up! 9/10 - for the enthusiasm and the hard work!
