- TriviaDuring the 1920s, contemporary names for the era were "the Jazz Age" and "the Plastic Age." Hollywood screenwriters purloined both names to serve as film titles: The Jazz Age (1929) and The Plastic Age (1925). Writer F. Scott Fitzgerald is credited with popularizing "the Jazz Age" as an era-specific label with the publication of his 1922 anthology "Tales of the Jazz Age." In contrast, the "Roaring Twenties" is an anachronistic era name which did not gain popularity until after the Great Depression with the release of The Roaring Twenties (1939).
