Ewan McGregor and his then-wife, Eve Mavrakis, eventually adopted the little girl, Jamyan, that McGregor met in Ulan Baator, Mongolia. As a teenager, she appeared in the successor series, Long Way Up (2020) where she traveled for a few days with her father through Central America.
The journey lasted from April 14 2004 to 29 July 2004 and covered 18,887 miles (30,396 km), spread over 12 countries.
All 3 bikes used were 2004 BMW R1150GS Adventures.
In 1997, prior to making this series, actor Ewan McGregor was in an episode of the American TV series "ER" which was similarly titled: The Long Way Around (1997).
