"Christmas Rematch" continues the story of a poker game started 17 years earlier in "Christmas Present". The plot hinges on the notions of trust and mistrust, but the screenplay is so clumsy that watching the movie till the end requires some effort. Apart from the very last scenes, there is no tension whatsoever. I found it surprising that a renowned director such as Pupi Avati actually made this movie. In spite of a very respectable cast (Carlo Delle Piane, Gianni Cavina, Alessandro Haber, Diego Abatantuono), acting is, at times, untenable, if not laughable. A very disappointing follow-up, unable to reproduce the atmosphere of the first movie.
