Excellent ! Marvelous! Fantastic ! Fabulous !
Excellent story, Excellent cast, Excellent performances and Excellent comedy scenes. No wonder it bagged so much during its first weeks.
Chandu (Jayasuriya) has a problem with his name. Everyone who hears his name instantly believes that he is merciless [Chathiyan Chandu]. But that is not the theme of the story.
Chandu wants to be a famous script-writer. So he approaches all director's but all his stories are flops. So he decides to write his own story.......
Chandu is the son of a servant who works in a big manor. (But he's not the 'other' son of the master. No way, that's not the story either.) The master's (Janardhanan's) daughter Indira (Bhavana) is in love with Chandu. But Chandu doesn't want to "hurt" his master. So he refuses Bhavana's love. But Bhavana never gives up. One day Janardhanan gets hold of the love story and wants Chandu to give up the love. So he asks Chandu to write letters which will describe his love with an imaginary "Vasumathi" in an imaginary "Thekkekkattukara" village. Janardhanan purposefully gives Bhavana the letters which makes her heart-broken . In one of those letters Janardhanan asks Chandu to write that he is planning to leave town with the imaginary "Vasumathi" which completely breaks Bhavana's heart. But she posts all the letters after reading them. Now Janardhanan asks Chandu to leave town.
Now as fate permits, there really IS a "Vasumathi" (Navya Nair) in a REAL Thekkekkattukara village , who is on the verge of suicide (Reason revealed later) . Now Chandu's letters gives her hope and she decides to leave town as per the last letter. But there comes the clash . In the Madras bus there is Vinneeth to whom Chandu tells his own story and tells him that even if the real Vasumathi comes he will not accept her. Now Vasumathi hears this and is heartbroken. She has nowhere to go. So Vineeth takes both Chandu and Vasumathi to his home. where after a turn of events Chandu falls in love with Vasumathi .Yes, yeah. And just when Vasumathi is about to reveal her identity, voila comes Bhavana. INETRVAL ........Then what happens ?????????? Vasumathi's story is revealed and the super climax is with her family.
I think the story is, even though stupid, really cool.Charismatic. So imaginative of the writer. Jayasuriya plays his role with maturity. I think its time now for "Dileep out Suriya in" chant again. because that's 3 hits in a row, Jayasuriya has delivered. and Dileep, well he I think is losing his position in trying to become an action star. Bhavana also does her part well. But I think her voice should have been dubbed. So manly. But my surprise was Navya Nair. I've never seen her so glamourous. I've always considered her a talented waste. But now I think I should change my opinion to talented beauty queen. Her Village girl role is a marvel. One will REALLY feel sympathy towards her character. Also she plays her ""ghost"" role with a beauty. Oooh, it was comedially frightening. Vineeth also plays well though he didnt have that much lengthy part.
And about laughter. I think you should bring two cartons of tissue papers. Because its going to be so hilarious that 'happy' tears will come out of your eyes. So comedial till the end. And "Michael Jackson " Salim Kumar , Cochin Haneefa and a surprising Lal adds to the laughter.
My Verdict : EXCELLENT. VERY VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
My Rating : 10/10
