'Mystery Play' doesn't fit. This is a positive comment. Most films can be tucked comfortably into a genre- action, horror, total rubbish, whatever- but this, Sean Martin's first feature, is, well, different, & I can't quite put my finger on why. But it is. No-one, not the characters, the actors portraying them, the audience watching or, it seems, the director directing them really seems to know just what is going on. This is to the benefit of a highly original and slightly disturbing film. You really should see it. I think. If you can. It's about Things Happening in London, love, hate, forgiveness, blame, a hint of Time Travel and a painting by Van Eyke that spent a few hundred years in a toilet. I think.
