Exclusive: Oscar-nominated writer-producers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby have signed with Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment for management, Deadline has learned.
The news comes following word this morning that the pair have been tapped to script Shadow Tiger, a feature adaptation of the comic book from Sharad Devarajan.
No strangers to comic books, Fergus and Ostby rose to prominence after co-writing Children of Men and Iron Man back to back.
Released by Universal in 2006, Alfonso Cuarón’s dystopian sci-fi pic Children of Men adapted P.D. James’s 1992 novel of the same name. Set in a bleak future where two decades of global human infertility have pushed society to the brink of collapse, the film follows Theo Faron (Clive Owen), a disillusioned bureaucrat, as he is unexpectedly tasked with protecting a miraculously pregnant woman, Kee (Clare-Hope Ashitey). Widely regarded as one of the best films of the 21st century, Children scored three Academy...

Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the highly anticipated next entry in Ubisoft’s iconic franchise, is receiving unwarranted criticism from PlayStation 5 fans who unfairly compare it to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima. It appears that Microsoft’s backing for the title, along with the fact that the world-first gameplay was revealed during yesterday’s Xbox Games Showcase of all events, has ruffled some feathers—especially after Sony’s lackluster State of Play last month.
But negative criticism and unjust comparisons aside, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is already shaping up to be a Ubisoft game that long-time fans of the series can finally get excited about after years of stagnation. On that note, here are seven features that set this game apart from its recent predecessors and prove why it’s set to be the best Assassin’s Creed title since the critically acclaimed AC: Origins!
1. A New Engine, A New Era Naoe and Yasuke plan their next move.

It's been nearly 60 years since Julie Andrews first sang about how the hills of Austria were alive with the sound of music, but "The Sound of Music" remains a beloved cinematic treasure. Vividly colorful, unabashedly musical, and anchored by Andrews' performance, the story of Maria the would-be nun, and her small army of new wards — the Von Trapp children — is still rewatched and referenced often across the world.
With more than half a century of retrospect, "The Sound of Music" has also become a bit of a historical document: much of the film's cast and crew has since passed away, with the exception of Andrews herself and five of the seven actors who embodied the Von Trapp kids. Heather Menzies (Louisa) and Charmian Carr (Liesl) have both passed away in recent years, as has Christopher Plummer, who embodied family patriarch...

Jessica Biel rose to stardom in the early 2000s-era of movies, starring in films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Stealth, Blade: Trinity, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, not to mention her time on hit series 7th Heaven. Now, the actress returns to that Y2K nostalgia as an executive producer of Freeform’s Cruel Summer, now in its second season.
“It just brought me back to my youth,” Biel told The Hollywood Reporter at the show’s season two Los Angeles premiere on Wednesday night. “It brought me back to being a young woman in Hollywood and a young woman trying to work through this business and the world at this time when technology was changing so much — fashion and music and everything. I think at the time, we didn’t realize how cool it was. But looking back now, I miss it so much.”

Swiss filmmaker Lionel Baier has completed the third movement in his sweeping film tetralogy concerning Europe with “Continental Drift (South).” The film, which debuts at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, sees Baier shifting his focus southward to Sicily in 2020, just prior to the Covid-19 pandemic and deep within the European migrant crisis.
Isabelle Carré plays Nathalie Adler, who has been dispersed to a migrant camp in Catania, Sicily ahead of a visit from Macron and Merkel only to find her pugnacious son Albert, played by Canadian Théodore Pellerin working against her interests as an activist.
The film, which is produced by Bandita Films with Rts and Les Films du Losange handling sales, strikes a balance between political satire and heartfelt drama, as Nathalie and Albert push and pull, magnetic at the edges of their estrangement. Europe cleverly serves as both vibrant backdrop and catalytic metaphor as the pressure builds around parallel narratives.

Game Freak has pulled one blinder of a surprise out of the bag this week.
Yesterday, the developer announced via a special Direct stream that two major Dlc expansions for Pokémon Sword and Shield are in the works. Had this been any other triple-a title, confirmation of additional content would have been a wholly unsurprising affair, but for Pokémon, it’s a monumental step indeed. Not in the franchise’s 24-year history has an entry in the core RPG series ever received new features post-launch and many, including yours truly, couldn’t be happier to see the studio finally catch up with the rest of the industry.
Traditionally, each new generation of Pokémon games is followed 12 months later with a ‘side sequel’ or third game (e.g. Ultra Sun & Moon and Yellow Version) that keeps the base game largely intact while layering additional features not found in the originals on top.

Superhero films and TV shows are at a bit of a crossroads. After “Avengers: Endgame,” Marvel Studios has pretty much raised the bar on what you might consider a “typical” superhero story to a level that will likely never be reached again. So, the genre is at a fork in the road where just doing your run-of-the-mill origin story film just ain’t gonna cut it. And with “Watchmen” and “The Boys” deconstructing the genre in new ways, superhero films are forced to evolve.

Love the book but didn't like the movie? Play the World War Z video game instead! Our review...
Release Date: April 16, 2019
Platform: PS4 (reviewed), Xbo, PC
Developer: Saber Interactive
Publisher: Focus Home Interactive
Genre: Cooperative Third-person Shooter
With explosive, borderline addictive gameplay and zero fatal flaws in its design or execution, World War Z is a frenetically fun four-player co-op zombie shooter that’s hard not to like, even if it doesn’t push the boundaries of the genre. For fans who have long been waiting for Valve to release another Left 4 Dead game, there’s a good chance that Saber Interactive’s take on the formula scratches that years-long itch.
The game is technically based on the 2013 Brad Pitt film of the same name, though that connection is only minimally relevant. At the moment, the campaign is divided into four chapters, with each chapter set in a different city...

Swiss director Lionel Baier (“Longwave”) is developing “South,” a Sicily-set road movie mixing Europe’s immigration woes with those of a rocky mother-and-son rapport.
Baier, a Locarno regular, said the film, now at script stage, will be the third in a four-picture series portraying contemporary Europe. “These films are about political ideas, but really about what connects European people together, and also about family,” Baier pointed out.
Within this series of sorts, “South” will come after “Stealth” (2006) in which the protagonist — played by himself — went to Poland to search for his roots, and “Longwave” (2013) about a Swiss Radio crew caught up in Poland’s 1974 Carnation Revolution.
In “South,” a 45-year-old French woman named Natalie who works as director of communications at an Ngo is forced to take a trip through Sicily to contend with Europe’s current immigration crisis. She must bring along her 17-year-old son whom at one point...

I was so looking forward to playing Payday 2 on the Nintendo Switch, I really was. For one, I’d bought the game a few years back on the PS3 but my the laser died and wouldn’t read discs anymore so I never got to play past the first mission… So given that this was a game that had – essentially – passed me by And it was now available on my favourite current-gen console, Payday 2 was high on my must-play list. And unlike other gamers and reviewers, who I know complained about the lack of multiplayer voice chat and had a general malaise when it came to the entire multiplayer experience with this game – I don’t care about that aspect of Payday 2. As someone who hasn’t played online multiplayer since the days of Gears of War 3, I could care less about how the multiplayer experience performs, for me its all about the campaign,...

The Hurricane Heist is a curiously bland film. When one opts for a title as knowingly ludicrous as The Hurricane Heist, you expect something trashy and splashy, but in a fun, silly way. Nobody goes into The Hurricane Heist expecting high art. Nor should you. It’s called The Hurricane Heist after all. Delusions of grandeur are strictly void. And there are certainly moments of over-the-top ridiculousness to be found in the newest film from Rob Cohen, the director behind the original The Fast and the Furious and other less-than-noteworthy titles like xXx, Stealth, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and Alex Cross. Sitting at otherwise-agreeable 103 minutes, however, Cohen’s latest film is an amusingly absurd action-thriller that’s stretched out at least an hour longer than it has any right to be. Suffice to say, it doesn’t blow you away.

Welcome to the “Preview Reel” column, where we look at the week’s upcoming wide-release movies. Black Panther continued its box-office dominance as it passed the $500 million mark domestically this past weekend. This week, Disney looks to keep up its winning ways with not only Black Panther, but with A Wrinkle in Time as well. The Mouse House will have a lot of competition as three other wide releases also open in the form of The Hurricane Heist, The Strangers: Prey at Night, and Gringo. There are a lot of options, but which are worth a trip to the cineplex?
A Wrinkle in Time

For a hardware manufacturer that has built its reputation around family-centric experiences, it’s refreshing to see Nintendo leaning into more adult-focused entertainment with its latest console. Like the recently released port of Doom, Payday 2 is a popular, mature-rated Fps that has released on Switch significantly later than its fellow console brethren. Sure, it’s a five year old game, but does it still hold up on Nintendo’s diminutive handheld system in 2018? Well, the short answer is a disappointingly halfhearted “sort of.” Yep, this version of Overkill Software’s brand of cops ’n’ robbers gameplay is very much the definition of a mixed bag.
If you’re unfamiliar with Payday 2’s setup, imagine the final action-packed standoff of Heat, fused together with the bank heists from Point Break, and you’re in the right ballpark. You take on the role of a fresh-faced armed robber with the sole objective...

The Hurricane Heist takes natural disaster and heist film to an absurd new level! The film basically follows a group of thieves who attempt a huge U.S. Treasury heist during a Catagory 5 hurricane. The movie looks absolutely ridiculous, but it also looks like a lot of stupid fun. Mostly stupid, though.
The movie was directed by Rob Cohen. That's the same guy brought us films such as Stealth, xXx, and Fast and the Furious. The cast for the film includes Maggie Grace as a Treasury Agent and Toby Kebbell as a meteorologist who... are you ready for this... is terrified of hurricanes. Yeah, this is gonna be winner! I love that people actually thought this was a great idea. Here's the synopsis:

"This is gunna be harsh!" Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures has debuted the first official trailer for the most absurd, ridiculous movie of 2018 - The Hurricane Heist. So here's the concept - thieves attempt a massive heist against the U.S. Treasury as a Category 5 hurricane approaches one of its Mint facilities. And this is made by director Rob Cohen, of the infamous Stealth and xXx and Fast and the Furious. Stay away, stay far far away. The cast for The Hurricane Heist includes Maggie Grace as the one and only Treasury Agent who has the code to the vaults, plus Toby Kebbell as a terrified meteorologist (seriously?), as well as Ryan Kwanten, Ralph Ineson, Melissa Bolona, Ben Cross, Jamie Andrew Cutler, and Christian Contreras. Yes, this looks as crazy as it sounds, and not in a good way. I mean, sure, the concept is a tiny bit fun, but this looks...

Sunday’s Critics Choice Awards took a strange turn when “Atlanta” star Keith Stanfield gave a short acceptance speech for an award his show didn’t win. After “Silicon Valley” nabbed the Best Comedy Series award — for which “Atlanta” was also nominated — Stanfield appeared on stage before “Silicon Valley” executive producer Tom Lassally could get to the mic.

“I want to thank everybody for honoring us in this way,” Stanfield said. “We worked very hard on ‘Silicon Valley’ and here we are. Thank you.” Many in the audience then applauded, no doubt relieved that Stanfield wasn’t actually confused about which show won, and especially releived he wasn’t taking a page from Kanye West’s 2009 MTV Music Video Awards book.
“No idea who that was,” Lassally said, before giving his own acceptance speech.

You may have forgotten, but half a decade ago, producer Neil Moritz (the ‘Fast & Furious‘ franchise, “xXx,” “Stealth,” “S.W.A.T.”) snapped up the rights and plotted a remake of “Starship Troopers,” with fellow producer Toby Jaffe also working on the project. Writers Zack Stentz (“Thor” and “X-Men: First Class”) and Edward Miller were tasked with knocking out a draft of the script, and a couple years ago described their movie as “[l]ess a satire, and more an actual adaptation of the [Robert A.

The signature moment in each episode of Netflix’s Emmy-nominated “Chef’s Table” is no more than a succession of plates. Composer Duncan Thum’s melodramatic strings herald abstractions of texture and color, labeled as if on view at the Met: A rough pile of gray shards and purple flowers spattered with orange liquid (Grant Achatz’s “Graffiti, Carrot Spray Paint, Wild Mushrooms”); a wood husk filled with delicacies in the guise of dirt, twigs, and moss (Dominique Crenn’s “A Walk in the Forest”). Each montage is an expression of the belief that haute cuisine is high art, one shared by the series’ renowned subjects. “There [are] other disciplines that we can draw on for inspiration,” Achatz remarks. “There are no rules. Do whatever you want.”

[Editor’s Note: “BoJack Horseman” Season 3 is a feat of storytelling on both a serialized and episodic level. To honor the impressive accomplishment, IndieWire will be reviewing all 12 episodes over the next few weeks. Below, we delve into Episodes 2 & 3.]
“What are you talking about? It’s just whales!”
The idea of seeing zoos as prisons is nothing new, but Raphael Bob-Waksberg took the concept a step further in “BoJack Kills,” the third episode of “BoJack Horseman” Season 3. In light of the allegations made against SeaWorld in the wake of “Blackfish,” the opening moments of Episode 3 obliterated all other interpretations, efficiently and effectively establishing how parents paying for their children to watch abused animals perform is pretty damn similar to grown men throwing dollar bills for grown women to scoop up from their knees.
“Families come together to admire the fine female form of the majestic killer whale. It’s educational!”
“You and your little ones are going to get moist!”

From Anne Hathaway in Bride Wars, Charlize Theron in Aeon Flux, Jamie Foxx in Stealth, to Eddie Redmayne in Jupiter Ascending, Oscar winners always ride the momentum of their award glory to the next prestige film.
So what's next for our Oscar winners?
Leo finally won so he can crawl back into the bear (supermodel) cave (mansion) and never work again right? Unlikely, although he has absolutely nothing on his slate at the moment except for staring at his Oscar muttering "the way of the future... the way of the future....". I would genuinely love to see Leo in a movie where he plays a unlucky in love animal services employee who keeps stealing Kathryn Heigl's dog so he can give it back to her and appear the hero, that gets 36% on Rotten Tomatoes. Lighten Up Leo! There are rumours of another Scorcese collaboration about a serial killer. Just the light material we're looking for.

A few years back, it was announced that Neal H. Moritz, the producer behind cinematic acts of subtlety like "Furious 7," "Jack the Giant Slayer," "Battle: Los Angeles," "S.W.A.T," "Stealth," and "I Am Legend," was going to push ahead with a remake of Jacques Audiard's Oscar-nominated "A Prophet." It sent a chill down our spine, but luckily, there was no further news.....until today.... Rob Cohen directed The Fast and the Furious, kickstarting what would eventually become a billion-dollar global powerhouse. His career, however, didn't gain the same fury as the franchise he started. He's remained a go-to director for modestly budgeted action movies, delivering the likes of xXx, Stealth and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor-- all movies that are fine to watch on cable on a lazy afternoon. His next movie has a premise that's so absurd, though, it may be worth intentionally watching. It's called Category 5, but this isn't your ordinary hurricane disaster movie. It's about a gang of hackers who use the storm of the century as a cover to try and steal $102 million from a U.S. Mint facility that's at the heart of the hurricane...

The past decade hasn't been too kind to director Rob Cohen. The director, who is perhaps best known for directing Vin Diesel in the "Fast and the Furious" and "xXx" in the early 2000s hasn't done much for me to be excited about in recent years. In 2005, he directed "Stealth," the forgettable plane movie starring Jamie Foxx. In 2008, he directed the third "Mummy" flick, which effectively ended the franchise. In 2012, he directed the terrible "Alex Cross" movie, and most recently, he helmed the Jennifer Lopez vehicle "Boy Next Door," which wasn't any better received by viewers or critics.
It's now been revealed that Cohen will be going back to the crazy silly action genre with "Category 5," a film that "follows a team of tech hackers who infiltrate a U.S. Mint facility on a small coastal town to steal $102M in cash, just as a disastrous Category 5 hurricane, the storm of the century,...

Shooting began this week on Academy Award winner Stefan Ruzowitzky’s action-thriller, Patient Zero.
The feature stars Matt Smith (“Doctor Who,” Terminator Genisys), Natalie Dormer (“Game of Thrones”), John Bradley (“Game of Thrones”), Agyness Deyn (Clash of the Titans) and Academy Award nominee Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games).
Production is based in the UK at Shepperton Studios and will shoot in and around London until April 18, 2015.
In Patient Zero, an unprecedented global pandemic of a super strain of rabies has turned the majority of humankind into highly intelligent, streamlined killers known as ‘The Infected.’ One victim, Morgan (Matt Smith), who is asymptomatic and can communicate with the infected, leads the last survivors on a hunt for Patient Zero and a cure.
Patient Zero is directed by Austrian Writer/Director, Stefan Ruzowitzky, best known for the 2008 Academy Award Winner for Best Foreign Film The Counterfeiters, and is from a screenplay written by Mike Le.

Think that winning an Academy Award provides an actor with a surefire path to unlimited great roles? Think again. Oscars history is filled with stars who've taken home a gold statue only to see all their hard work undone in seconds with a stinker of a follow-up movie.

Halle Berry - Catwoman (2004)
A piercing performance in Monster's Ball won Halle Berry an Oscar in 2002, but a rocky road lied ahead.
