Just yesterday, we shared the news that the “nature run amok” horror thriller The Flood is going to receive a theatrical, VOD, and digital release on July 14th, courtesy of Saban Films. With the release date so close, we knew a trailer would be available soon – we just didn’t expect it to be this soon! The trailer for The Flood is now online, and you can check it out in the embed above.

When a rogue scientist discovers an immense egg in the dark recesses of a rainforest he thinks hes stumbled across his fame and fortune. But little does he know that it belongs to a terrifying hybrid monster, known only as the Piranhaconda (a moniker only mentioned once in the Entire film and dismissed as a stupid name!). Soon the beast is on the loose, hunting for its unborn child, rampaging through the country and destroying everything in its path in a mass of CGI-enhanced gory-glory.
A killer-creature B-movie from the Roger Corman staple, Piranhaconda is yet another made for Syfy TV movie suprisingly this one comes from director Jim Wynorski, who is well-known in the horror community for successfully mixing T&A and horror.

If you thought it was only studios like The Asylum who were cranking out giant sea creature flicks for Syfy you’d be completely wrong – Roger Corman and his New Horizon Pictures are still producing the kind of cheap and cheerful monster movies that Corman made his name with to this day. Only unlike The Asylum, Corman and co. don’t seem to want to keep to just giant monsters… Instead they’ve cross-bred their monsters as time has gone on – no longer are they satisfied with plain-old Supergator, their first giant creature flick; nope they’ve brought us the crazy combos of Dinoshark, Dinocroc (who took on Supergator in 2010), Piranhaconda; and their craziest giant killer creature combination, Sharktopus.

Somebody call Roger Corman pronto – it looks like they've caught the actual Supergator. Or is this Dinocroc? We're not really sure, but this alligator is definitely monster-sized, and it's easily as big as the title beast in the 1980 film Alligator, or the killer crocodiles in Lake Placid and Black Water. As reported by Reuters, this group of Mississippi hunters scored a new record on the very first weekend of the state's ten-day alligator hunting season when they bagged this enormous specimen, measuring thirteen feet long and weighing 727 pounds. Gator hunting is obviously quite dangerous (especially if you're the gator), but the sport is becoming more popular in Mississippi, where hunting permits are assigned by lottery only, and hunters are required to take special safety courses. Believe it or not, this gator is not the largest ever found... a fourteen-footer was caught in Florida last year, and some have been reported...

Unfortunately our own Stephanie Ogrodnik was unable to attend the Sdcc panel on Corman's latest production due to the egregious lines at the Hollywood-run convention, so instead, we've got you the poster! Corman's first ever 3d film is a quasi-remake of the horrendous 1958 film, and a quasi-remake-remake of the 1993 remake which starred Darryl Hannah. While I'm sure this will be as equally terrible, it's Kevin O'Neill's first feature, and he's done special effects on lots of big films, including the Pulse Franchise. It's also written by Mike MacLean, the man who penned Dinocroc vs Supergator, Sharktopus, and Piranhaconda. And, it's Corman .. we gotta support The Man. You can watch the incredibly sad trailer for the 1958 version below. [Continued ...]...

Sharktopus. Dinoshark. Dinocroc. All pale in comparison to Syfy’s upcoming “2 Creatures for the Price of 1” extravaganza, Piranhaconda. Roger Corman’s latest killer hybrid is scheduled to air on the network in October. In somewhat inevitable news, it stars the awesome Michael Madsen along with Rachel Hunter and is directed by Jim Wynorski.
Who is responsible for unleashing the half-piranha/half-anaconda on the unsuspecting masses? That would be writer Mike MacLean, who also penned Sharktopus and Dinocroc vs. Supergator for Syfy.
MacLean talked to Shock about writing creature features, working with Roger Corman, the differences between cable and theatrical movies, why comedy is a vital component of Syfy features, and more.

Roger Corman graced Syfy with a Sharktopus. For his foray into producing for the Epix network, the “King of the B’s” is busting out Attack of the 50-Foot Cheerleader (in 3D no less) and has assembled quite a cast for a movie about a giant cheerleader on a rampage.
Shockingly, Roger Corman did not produce the 1950’s cult classic Attack of the 50-Foot Woman or its 1990’s remake starring Daryl Hannah. He also had nothing to do with 1995’s Attack of the 60-Foot Centerfold; that was Fred Olen Ray’s homage. Now, at the ripe old age of 86 (and still kicking), Corman is finally getting a piece of the giant woman on the attack action with Attack of the 50-Foot Cheerleader.
Synopsis:
Aspiring college cheerleader Cassie Stratford consumes an experimental drug that grants her beauty and enough athletic ability to make the cheer squad. However, the drug has an...

Camel Spiders was just released on Blu-ray/DVD and I was offered the opportunity to interview star Brian Krause (Sleepwalkers, Charmed) about his experience filming the movie. While we only had a brief chat time, I learned about his hate of spiders, working under director Jim Wynorski, and acting with CGI camel spiders.
Thank you for taking the time to talk with me. Camel Spiders is one of those movies that I’ve seen a lot of reader feedback on. Some are disgusted by it, some are excited, and others just don’t enjoy B-movies like this. Camel Spiders is out on Blu-ray/DVD this week and I wanted to find out more about your experience making this film. Can you tell me how you got involved with this movie?

Why does anyone love to watch terrible movies? Maybe we’re drawn in by the bad acting or we wonder why someone like David Carradine was in Dinocroc vs. Supergator. It could be because we want to watch an preposterous concept like Sharktopus, and we hope that just this once, it will actually be a masterpiece. For me, I’m always waiting for the creature reveal. When it comes to recent Roger Corman releases, you can bet on a spectacle of the fantastic and absurd.

Sadly, we've lost another big screen and small screen legend today, a character actor who's embodied everything from good to evil ... one of the greats. Charles Napier.
Napier, a movie and television actor who had a face you knew even if you didn’t know his name, died Wednesday in Memorial Hospital, Bakersfield, California, Greenlawn Funeral Directors confirmed late Wednesday afternoon, at the age of just 75.
While best known as Murdock in Rambo: First Blood Part II, Charles has graced our genre many times in everything from the original "Star Trek" television series to Maniac Cop 2 to even Dinocroc. He will be extremely missed.
We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to offer our sincerest of condolences to Charles' friends, family, and constituents. Thanks for the memories, good sir.

*full disclosure: a screener of this film was provided by Breaking Glass Pictures.
Director: John Huckert.
Writers: John Huckert, John Matkowsky and Dan Acre.
The genre of the erotic thriller seems to have past, much like the '90s. Yet, director John Huckert (Dinocroc) breathes some new life into this style of filmmaking by reducing the soft core porn and infusing his latest film, Strangers Online, with an interesting story line. Character Hollis Parker (Noel Palomaria) has lost his wife to murder and he relives this loss through sexual indiscretions. The result is a lot of nudity, a satisfying conclusion and a film that takes a look at a side of life that is rarely seen.
And sometimes watching peeping toms, narcissists, and obsessive characters is a lot better managed through digital rather than reality. Parker is a late night shock jock, who deals with a following of internet junkies.

The prolific producer’s latest is “Dinocroc vs. Supergator”, which, as you might have guessed, pits a Dinocroc against a Supergator. Two enters, but only one leaves! Or some such. Thanks to the good folks over at Anchor Bay Entertainment, we have four copies of “Dinocroc vs. Supergator” to give away to four lucky winners, including two standard DVD copy, and two Blu-ray copies. It's one thing thing to make a monster mash-up: Dinocroc, Sharktopus, Piranhaconda, but what does a seasoned creature-feature producer do when he's run out of creatures to feature? If you're Roger Corman you take it to the next level. You have a monster mash-up smash-up.
That's right, now out on Blu-ray and DVD, Dinocroc Vs. Supergator. Billed as the ultimate monster smackdown, the movie stars the late David Carradine in one of his final roles as a mad scientist who, in the bowels of his secret laboratory, creates the mutant titans, and god help any innocent bystanders. Mid-July is going to be a good time for DVD and Blu-ray releases featuring people getting eaten alive. Dinocroc and Supergator take time out between rounds to devour anyone in their path. Native American lycan legends go on the prowl in Maneater and Monster Wolf. Most importantly, the Australian Open Water-ish shark thriller The Reef finally surfaces on American shores.
The people chomping begins on July 12th when Anchor Bay releases the Roger Corman produced, Jim Wynorski directed, Syfy original creature feature Dinocroc vs. Supergator (review here). The late David Carradine makes one of his final appearances in this monstrous smackdown that sees genetically engineered reptilian rivals escaping their confines and chomping their way through a series of scientists, tourists, and bikini babes in Hawaii. The actors chew the scenery almost as much as the monsters.

Why does it feel like this review should be written in capital letters? Perhaps this is just the influence of the DVD tagline, which screams at high volume: Frozen For 150 Million Years… Now He’S Hungry! Following closely on the heels/fins/tentacles of recent schlock cult hit “Sharktopus” is “Dinoshark”, which basically sees legendary B-movie mogul Roger Corman serving up more of the same, with yet another beach resort being terrorised by an unlikely though hungry aquatic fiend. The film certainly has a suitable helmer in Kevin O’Neill, a man who previously swam similar waters with “Dinocroc”, as well as working on visual effects for the likes of the “Piranha” remake and the “Feast” series. Somewhat unusually for this kind of direct to DVD, made for cable foolishness, the film actually has a pretty decent cast, with a handful of semi-recognisable faces, including headline stars Eric Balfour (“Skyline...

Anchor Bay will release Dinocroc Vs. Supergator, the latest giant monster smackdown movie from legendary film impresario Roger Corman (Sharktopus), on Blu-ray and DVD on July 12.
The rumble is on in Dinocroc Vs. Supergator.
Scientist Jason Drake (the late David Carradine, Dark Fields) has been holed up deep within a secret island laboratory of an unscrupulous biotech corporation meddling with the laws of nature, as isolated scientists are wont to do. When he turns his attention from mutating fruits and vegetables to alligators, crocodiles and dinosaurs, something’s bound to grow to horrific proportions and escape—like a gargantuan crocodile and an equally humungous alligator. So, when the titular Dinocroc and Supergator get loose, the two quickly enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet of scientists, tourists, mercenaries and swimsuit models…until their inevitable showdown against each other.
Directed by genre journeyman Jim Wynorski (The Hills Have Thighs) and co-starring Corey Landis, Amy Rasimas...

Big news today in the world of schlocky animal attack films. While David R. Ellis‘ Snakes On a Plane didn’t quite live up to the large internet buzz, he has extensive plans for his upcoming feature. The Final Destination director spoke with Vulture about what could be the most important part of this B-movie films, the title. While initially sold as Shark Night 3D, the director exclaims he wants a more explanatory title:
“I hated the original title [Shark Night 3D], too,” says Ellis, reached in his editing bay, “so at our weekly production meetings, I made everyone on the crew come up with names — Chums, Fins, Terror on the Lake — but they all seemed kind of cheesy. And so until I hear a better name, I like what we’ve got right now: Untitled 3D Shark Thriller. The title says everything you need to know: ‘We’ve got sharks.’ ‘It’s in 3D.

How can you possibly top Sharktopus? One word: Piranhaconda!
Matchflick brings the news that Dinocroc/Dinoshark/Supergator/Sharktopus producer Roger Corman has another high concept mutant up for cinematic gene splicing, a hybrid of a piranha and an anaconda. Sharktopus scribe Michael MacLean is penning the script to be directed by Jim Wynorski of Chopping Mall, Return of Swamp Thing, and Dinocroc vs. Supergator fame.
The movie revolves around the battle with a creature "with razor sharp teeth and 100 feet of constricting power."
That's all we know right now plot-wise, and when talking about a movie titled Piranhaconda, that's really all you need.
Shooting begins next month in Hawaii. The only announced cast member at this time is Diana Terranova (8212: Gacy House, Milf).
No doubt we'll see Piranhaconda slithering around Syfy sometime in the future.

Megasaurus, Megapiranha, Supercroc, Dinocroc and now Dinoshark. What is your catch of the week? The plotline follows the usual giant animal terrorizing beaches, but this time Roger Corman stars with Eric Balfour (Skyline). This title releases on DVD and Blu-Ray April 26th and here is your fair warning to stay out of the water. More details are below.
A partial synopsis for Dinoshark is here:
"Local captain Trace McGraw (Eric Balfour) and marine biologist Carol (Iva Hasperger) seem to be the only ones convinced that the creature terrorizing their shores is something other than the expected man-eating shark. They enlist the help of the world’s only expert on the Dinoshark (Roger Corman himself). Together, will they be able to reel Dinoshark in?
Release Date: April 26th, 2011 (DVD, Blu-Ray).
Director: Kevin O'Neill.
Writers: Frances Doel and Guy Prevost.
Producers: Roger Corman and Julie Corman.
Cast: Aaron Diaz, and Humberto Busto.

It has just been announced that Universal Pictures and SyFy (owned by NBC Universal) have launched SyFy Films. SyFy will produce one to two theatrical films a year – ranging from science fiction and horror to fantasy – which will be distributed by Universal. The announcement was made by Dave Howe, President of Syfy and Chiller, Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Syfy and Co-Head of Content for Universal Cable Productions, Universal Pictures Chairman Adam Fogelson and Co-Chairman Donna Langley. All parties involved have cited the growing interest in genre pieces, and relish the chance to produce moderately-budgeted projects for a larger release (read: cheap movies make more money).
Which really only makes me ask, “Why?”
I understand the logic and economics behind such a venture. It goes back to the style of filmmaking that Roger Corman started decades ago, by making pictures for far less than what major studios spent on their pictures,...

From Syfy, the channel that brought you Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus, Mega Piranha and Dinocroc vs.Supergator, comes the next big “thing” in underwater terror… Sharktopus!
Syfy have released three new clips from the film which comes from the production studios of Roger Corman and answers that oft-asked question: Just what would happen if a shark and an octopus mated? Sharktopus, that’s what! Not really, here’s the film official synopsis:
The U.S. Navy has commissioned a group called Blue Water to genetically engineer a half-shark, half-octopus to help combat Somali pirate ships. Then things go wrong.
Sharktopus stars Eric Roberts and is directed by Declan O’Brien (Wrong Turn 3).

The trailer for Sharktopus was just brought to my attention via our message board. The Roger Corman produced flick will air on the SyFy channel sometime in 2010. You can check the SyFy channel's schedule for future air times. I hope the movie lives up to its trailer, because this has to be the best looking SyFy original ever released. And you know if it does well we will be seeing Sharktopus vs. Dinocroc in the near future.

This is that Roger Corman and Syfy Channel's schlockfest -- a Navy-engineered killing machine that's a shark in a dress made of tentacles -- I told you about earlier this year. It capitalizes on the straight-to-video pic Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus on Yahoo's Top 10 most viewed trailers of 2009. So Karen O'Hara, Syfy's boss of original movies, announced via Twitter a greenlight for the long gestating Sharktopus! Love that Corman, who's already made Supergator, Dinocroc, and Dinoshark, has given the pic a fab Beach Blanket Bingo vibe. Here at EW Towers, we’ve become obsessed with the Syfy Channel’s hugely enjoyable, and increasingly insane, series of original monster movies. We’ve laughed ourselves stupid at Dinocroc, chuckled ourselves brainless at Mega Piranha, and just last week had to change our collective underwear after guffawing ourselves into incontinence at the news that Tiffany and Debbie Gibson are set to star in the forthcoming Mega Python vs. Gatoroid. (For more on the thinking — if that’s the right word — behind the channel’s movies, check out my colleague Chris Nashawaty’s News & Notes article about SyFy in the current issue of EW.

This weekend the Syfy channel aired the latest Roger Corman creation, Dinocroc vs Supergator. The movie was the inevitable combination of Dinocroc and Supergator, the two past films made by the legendary producer for the network. Corman, often called the King of the B-movies, is best known his low budget sci-fi flicks, but he also has had mainstream success with his Edgar Allen Poe movies, including The Fall of the House of Usher and The Raven, and cult classics like Death Race 2000, Children of the Corn, and Rock and Rock High School.
With an astounding 550 films under his belt it's no wonder the Academy honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Oscar in 2009. But his one work is just part of the story. Throughout the course of his 50-year career, Corman has launched the careers of many of today's Hollywood elite.

Just like the six Edgar Allen Poe films that he made in the 1960s, Roger Corman did not set out to do more than one film. It was only after the enormous success of Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher" that he continued doing a series of films on Poe's work. Similarly, Corman did not set out to become the king of amphibian horror films. It just worked out that way. When he first did "Dinocroc" he simply thought it was a very good science fiction/horror subject. But as Corman is the first to admit, his latest film was inspired by sheer corporate greed. After the monstrous success of "Dinocroc," which garnered some of the highest ratings in the Syfy's Saturday original movie history, Corman was approached to do a second film. But because sequels never do as well as the original, ...

Producer Roger Corman is unleashing "Dinoshark" this Saturday on the Syfy channel. This will be followed soon after by "Sharktopus" (with Eric Roberts), then "Dinocroc vs Supergator," and then maybe "Dinoshark vs Sharktopus." "The chances are 100% that you will get 'Dinocroc vs Supergator.' We're working on that right now," Corman said. "If people like it, we'll probably do 'Dinoshark vs Sharktopus.'" Corman explained that Dinoshark made sense; it is a prehistoric dinoshark whose sperm got trapped in ice. The ice melts after many years and dinoshark attacks. Sharktopus, on the other hand, is a bit more complicated. He explained: "There are Somali pirates or terrorists operating in local waters in small boats. The Navy has the assignment to wipe out these Somali pirates and/or destroy the boats of these terrorists, but they cannot send in a Navy ship, because that would be a violation of territorial waters.

Question: How do you combat Somali pirates and terrorists on the high seas? Answer: By genetically combining a shark and an octopus and controlling it so that it can dispatch them for you, without you ever having to fire a shot.
It might sound ridiculous, but it's the premise behind Sharktopus, one of two — and possibly more — B-style monster movies set to air on Syfy beginning this weekend, all from the mind of Roger Corman.
Here's how the producer described the concept in an interview with Sci Fi Wire:
"There are Somali pirates or terrorists operating in local waters in small boats. The Navy has the assignment to wipe out these Somali pirates and/or destroy the boats of these terrorists, but they cannot send in a Navy ship, because that would be a violation of territorial waters."
"So [the fictional company] Blue Water has been given the assignment to create a super-deadly...

The title to this article might sound like something more appropriate for The Onion, but the story is unbelievably real. SyFy original movies director Karen O’Hara announced via SyFy’s twitter that B-movie God Roger Corman will be producing Sharktopus for the channel.
The man whose credits include films with titles like Dinoshark, Dinocroc, Attack of the 60 Foot Centerfolds, Slumber Party Massacre II, Campirella, and No Dessert, Dad, Till You Mow the Lawn, seems pretty suited to this latest form of lunacy.
It may be premature, but this has “best movie ever made” written all over it.

I Now have access to freesat and have discovered the dodgy delights of ZoneHorror's various creature features including giant mosquitoes, a man-eating eel, a monster komodo dragon and - in Snakes on a Train - a savage serpent that devoured an entire locomotive.
It almost goes without saying that the acting, special effects and general plausibility in such cheap-thrill fantasy fodder don't withstand much scrutiny. But they're good for a laugh nonetheless.
That veteran of the B-movie genre Roger Corman is now planning to add to the mutant menagerie with Dinoshark, a TV movie set to air on the Syfy channel on March 13. It follows his earlier Dinocroc.

Roger Corman (a recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award at our recent Trinity of Terrors) is a mainstay of the American Film Market and always has been, and that’s where we caught up again with the veteran producer, who’s doing a couple of new killer-fish movies for the Syfy channel. “Dinocroc was a big hit for us,” he tells Fango, “and Syfy wanted another one, so now we have Dinoshark, which we shot in Mexico, and that has turned out so well, the next one we’ll do for them is…

Now that Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus (review here) has become something of a minor web phenomenon, it should come as no surprise that more animalistic movie monsters are being booked to step into the cinematic squared circle and clash in a motion picture smackdown of b-movie proportions. Next up for a monstermania main event: Dinocroc vs. Supergator.
Now here's the odd thing about the prospects of a Dinocroc vs. Supergator movie: They're the same monster. Roger Corman produced Dinocroc (review here) in 2004. He wanted to make a Dinocroc 2.
