We already know that the Twelfth Doctor isn't opposed to a guitar riff or two but now Doctor Who's very recognisable opening theme music has received a rock makeover of its own.
Series composer Murray Gold put together the new arrangement for Saturday night's (October 10) episode 'Before The Flood', which saw Peter Capaldi's Doctor lead into the opening credits with help from Beethoven's 5th symphony.
Doctor Who review: Before the Flood is scary and smart
The opening of 'Before the Flood' saw the Twelfth Doctor discussing the 'bootstrap paradox' ("Google it") using Ludwig van Beethoven as an example - a time traveller who loves Beethoven travels back in time to meet his hero, only to find out Beethoven doesn't exist so the time traveller decides to write out Beethoven's music and get it published.
This then begs the question: Who really wrote Beethoven's music to begin with?...

How do you take on someone who has Les Mis under her belt? With the right pair of Janis Joplin sunglasses, of course.
In this preview of the epic showdown between Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway on Lip Sync Battle, Blunt, 32, pulls out all the stops. The video shows the Into the Woods star going into faux-diva mode as she searches for the right sunglasses to complete her Janis Joplin look for her big number.
Also a part of Blunt's strategy? Improving mouth mobility by saying Benedict Cumberbatch's name repeatedly in her dressing room – and plenty of snarky asides about her competition.

Composer who scored nearly every Merchant Ivory film from The Europeans onwards and was an integral part of the brand
The Guinness Book of Records notes that the 44-year collaboration between the Indian producer Ismail Merchant and the American director James Ivory was the longest in the history of cinema. They might equally have added the screenwriter Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, who joined the duo from the start. And a member of Merchant Ivory Productions for almost as long was the composer Richard Robbins, who has died after suffering from Parkinson's disease, aged 71.
The Ivory-Robbins working partnership, which lasted over three decades, outdid in longevity such celebrated director-composer unions as Federico Fellini-Nino Rota, Michelangelo Antonioni-Giovanni Fusco and Alfred Hitchcock-Bernard Herrmann. Robbins scored nearly every Merchant Ivory production from The Europeans (1979) onwards, and was an integral part of the film company's brand.
