Liam Aiken was given his own Italian greyhound puppy (which he named Kes) as a gift for working on the film. It was to be presented on his last day of filming, but was withheld until the end of the day as his saddest scene was to be filmed on that day and the crew didn't want him to be happy.
This movie marks the second voice-over role for Matthew Broderick; after previously voicing Simba in the Lion King franchise.
The hat Owen (Liam Aiken) wears says "GB03" on the badge, a reference to the film's title and year of release.
The name Hubble is in tribute to Edwin Hubble one of the most prominent astronomers ever and name sake of the Hubble Space Telescope.
Owen's love for space is shown by his hat which has a galaxy logo.
