Initially, Jerzy Stuhr was to play the part of Czesnik Raptusiewicz and Wojciech Pszoniak was considered for the part of Papkin. They both turned down the roles due to schedule conflicts.

The part of Smigalski was first offered to Cezary Pazura and Marek Walczewski.
