Did you know
- TriviaWhen this movie was filmed, Mary-Kate and Ashley were still only 15 years old and did not have their drivers' licenses yet (age limit for getting a drivers' license in the US is 16). With their learners' permits they were only allowed to drive when accompanied by a licensed driver. For this reason, all the scenes with the twins "driving" had to be faked, with their car actually being towed by another car.
- GoofsThe final shot of the twins' wet birthday cake (soaked by Toast's 'cannonball' into the swimming pool) is flopped: not only is the model Ford Mustang on top facing in the opposite direction than before, but the lettering on the "SWEET 16" banner is in reverse.
- Quotes
Charley Simms: Hey, I'm Charley.
Taylor Hunter: Taylor.
Charley Simms: You're either a mirage or lost cause I've never seen anyone my age around here.
Taylor Hunter: I'm real.
Charley Simms: How did you get up here? Sorry, none of my business.
Taylor Hunter: All I wanted was to go to the Olympics. Is that so much to ask. I mean I worked my butt off to get those tickets. I should have gone by myself, but no I had to make it a group trip with my sister and friends. And my luck I got stuck with a group that can do absolutely nothing right! My car got stolen, the Caddy got spiked, we flew to the wrong San, I got stuck with a $450 cab ride, we did migrant labour, our steaks got e-lemonated, we got on the wrong bus, we're 120 miles from Vegas. The Olympics are almost over, I thought I lost my sister and thankfully some good news, found my sister!
Charley Simms: Thats the saddest story ever.
Taylor Hunter: No but, its definatly in the Top 10.

Now for all the people out there who watch their movies and complain, why? They aren't trying to make across the board best sellers or win academy awards! Their movies so far are targeted for a young audience, and honestly, what they are doing is great! Their movies have good morals, entertaining stories, and laughs for kids. They prove that kids don't need violence or inappropriate humor to be entertained and, maybe even learn something about life.
You can't look at movies like these and criticize the girls for making a boring story or being bad actresses, especially if you are older! I mean the girls know who their audience is and they make movies to entertain kids! SO if you are older and you can't understand this, why watch it and then complain?!?
These girls have an amazing future ahead of them, they could probably do anything they want with their acting futures. And I respect them for the quality children's entertainment they have done so far. "Getting There" IS a fun movie for kids and older poeple willing to suspend their obviously more mature tastes to enjoy simple entertainment.
