Shigeru Miyamoto who introduced us to well known video game figures like Mario, Link, and Donkey Kong once more introduces us to another concept of his. That's a group of characters called Pikmin (which is also the game's name).
In the game, you play Captain Olimar whose spaceship the dolphin crashes on an unusual planet after it gets hit by an asteroid. With your ship's pieces scattered all over the planet you must retrieve them to get back to your home planet, unfortuantly, you don't have much time because Olimar's life support will go out if you don't get the ship back together in 30 days or less. However you will meet the adorable Pikmin who will help you find the missing parts to your ship, as well as defeat bizarre creatures for you by fighting them in large numbers. They can also lift the enemies, as well as colored token like items that can be brought back to the Pikmin's pod to be turned in for Pikmin seeds in order to have more Pikmin follow you on your quest. There are different colored Pikmin all of whom can do different tasks for you in order to get further to retreving parts of your ship, getting back home, and survive.
Strategy gamers will probably get a kick out of the cute, and unique look of the game. But don't let that fool you, this game can be chalenging quite fast. If you own a Gamecube, and can't resist strategy games, well this might be for you!
