As the Hinata Residents discover Keitaro and Naru still at Kyoto, Shinobu and Kaolla team up to go after them after Mitsune jokes that the pair had eloped.

After Kaolla tried out her new invention, Mr Virtual, on Naru, the Hinata Residents were able to watch her romantic dream.

As Keitaro obtains an old video game, 'Legend of the Dragon Palace', Motoko experiences concern over changing if she continued to live in the same house as a man.

When the tenant's monthly rent disappears from Keitaro's room; Mitsune and Kaolla embark to solve the mystery. Meanwhile, Naru is also searching for something but doesn't want anyone to know about it.

Hinata Apartments is in the red, forcing everyone to find jobs in order to pay the bills. Keitaro and Naru find work at Tokyo U, but Keitaro's employer Seta happens to be Naru's old tutor, and old crush. Kisune arrives in a desperate attempt to keep Naru and Seta from meeting again.

Seta falls into an underground cave during a dig. Keitaro brings Seta's American daughter Sarah to Hinata Apartments. Sara's shenanigans led Keitaro & Co. to the same cave where Seta is, reigniting Naru old feelings for him.

Haruka invites Keitaro and the Hinata Apartments residents to the Hinata Seaside Tea House. Much to their dismay, Keitao & Co. realize they are there not to enjoy the sea, but to be put to work. First, they must repair the dilapidated tea house. Second, they must rehearse for the Urashima family's annual production of the Chinese epic "The Journey West" for the local kids.

Shirai and Haitani offer to help Keitaro earn Naru's heart, with a scary boat ride that drives her into his arms. Their plans are dashed, however, when a real ghost seizes Naru, and Motoko has to fight on her behalf.

Just before the residents go back from their summer break, they attend the Summer festival in the local town, dressed in traditional outfits. Kitsune, however, seems determined to force Naru and Seta away from one another.

Crown Prince Lamba Lu, who is Kaolla's cousin, arrives at Hinata Apartments to wed her and take her back to their country.

Keitaro stumbles upon a forgotten room deep in the basements of Hinata Apartments. There he finds an old doll that seems to possess a will of its own.

Naru and Keitaro decide to go out to celebrate the latest grades and while both are wondering whether it's a date or not, a mysterious little girl appears.

Mei is Naru's stepsister and hopes to take Naru back home. To accomplish this, she decides she has to hook Keitaro up with Mutsumi and Naru finds out something shocking.

Naru now wonders what she should do with her newfound knowledge and it seems like Keitaro is going to be returning home since his grandma has returned to reclaim the inn.

Everyone has to leave Hinata House for a day because the inn is undergoing repairs and renovations. It also becomes apparent that Keitaro won't be coming back to Hinata Inn and Naru has completely given up on Keitaro.

Motoko's older sister Tsuruko makes a surprise visit, and tries to take Motoko home to become their clan's successor. In a panic, Motoko avoids leaving Hinata Apartments by announcing that she is engaged to marry Keitaro, which is news to him.
