Young Jason Bateman was born on January 14, 1969, and soon thereafter arrived on the scene as a child actor in "Little House on the Prairie" in the early '80s. He went on to star in other relatively nondescript TV movies and shows before ultimately landing the role of Michael Bluth, the everyman trapped by the absurdity of his ridiculous family in Fox's (now Netflix's) cherished "Arrested Development."
Old Jason Bateman was also born on January 14, 1969 and, after starring on Fox's (now Netflix's) cherished "Arrested Development" as Michael Bluth, the everyman trapped by the absurdity of his ridiculous family, went on to star in such big budget productions as "Hancock," "The Kingdom," "Horrible Bosses" and, now, "Identity Thief."

Welcome to another edition of our upstart series, Mindhole Blowers, in which we troll the Internet and listen to DVD Commentaries to bring you what we hope is fascinating minutia. Typically, we look at movies (see our Mindhole Blowers columns on Cameron Crowe's Singles and Shane Black's Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), but today -- with the release of Horrible Bosses on the horizon -- I thought we'd take a look at a person, the fascinating and ridiculously durable Jason Bateman.
Jason Bateman has been acting now in Hollywood for 29 years. In that career, there are only two roles that I can identify in which he didn't play a variation on his "Jason Bateman" character, which is to say: Sly, dry wit and a personality halfway between ridiculously charming and spectacularly douchy. Those two roles were his first, as a kid in "Little House on the Prarie" and a...

Comden delivers the comic goods in deal with NBC
Danny Comden has inked a development/talent deal with NBC, NBC Studios and Touchstone Television. As part of the pact, Comden, best known for writing, directing and co-starring in the indie Sol Goode, is developing an ensemble comedy for NBC based on his idea. Described as Taxi for a new generation, the project is set at a grocery delivery service a la Pink Dot. Comden will partner with another writer to pen the script for the show, which NBC Studios and Touchstone TV will produce. Comden is also set to star in the sitcom and executive produce it with his management company 3 Arts Entertainment. If the Pink Dot pilot is not ordered, NBC Studios and Touchstone TV will develop another show for the actor to star in, targeted for NBC's fall 2003 lineup. This past development season, Comden had a deal with Touchstone. As part of that deal, he toplined the studio's untitled Jay Scherick-David Ronn detective comedy pilot for ABC. Comden is additionally repped by UTA and attorney David Weber.
